A loud crashing sound shook you from your sleep. For a split second, your room was illuminated by light. Lifting your head, you looked out your window, which was distorted by the heavy rain that was beating against the window. You trembled, as you had always hated thunder. Especially when it woke you up at such a late hour. (What time even is it?) you thought.
You picked up your phone and turned it on. It read 1:42am.
(Damn, and I have school tomorrow.) knowing you wouldn't be able to go back to sleep, you let out a sigh of annoyance. Another crash of thunder almost made you jump.
After laying down staring at the ceiling for a good five minutes, you sighed and sat up. Glancing over at your blank laptop screen which was barely visible in the darkness, you narrowed your eyes. Why not?
You slid out of bed, tiredness slowing your movements. Slipping into your chair at your desk, you hit the power button on your laptop. The screen lit up, and you typed your password in.
It was a bit slower than usual to log on, and as you waited you ran your fingers through your messy (h/c) hair.
Finally, it went to your home screen. (What to do, what to do...) you thought, twirling your hair and trying hard to ignore the thunder.
Suddenly, a internet window popped up without warning. Cleverbot. You weren't surprised, though. The stupid thing kept popping up every now and then, and you had gotten use to talking to it when you were bored. Although, it was oddly smarter than it use to be. You just thought it was because you talked to it so much.
It was the first to type. "Scared of a little storm?" It sent.
You snorted it annoyance. "I'm not scared. It just woke me up, and I don't feel like going back to sleep." You sent back.
"Poor thing." It seemed to tease.
"Shut up."
"Someone's a bit irritable, eh?"
You rolled your eyes. "I'm not a morning person."
"I see that. Well, since you're here, what should we talk about?"
"I'm not the one who got on, you just randomly popped up." You retorted. The robot was getting a little annoying.
It seemed to ignore your response. "By the way, tell your new class mate I said hi tomorrow, will you?"
What? New classmate? You hadn't heard anything about that. And how would Cleverbot know?
You shrugged it off and replied. "What new classmate?"
"You'll see." It responded.
"If you say so."
You highly doubted there would be any new student.
"Well, I'm getting bored." It said suddenly.
"What, I'm not interesting enough for you?" You joked.
"Nah, that's not it. I just have to go speak to someone about... Something."
"Well, alright. See ya." You typed.
"G'night." It said, before the window closed.
You stayed on your computer for about an hour longer, playing games and talking to friends online before finally feeling sleepy. By now, the rain had calmed to a soft drizzle, with only a very faint rumble in the distance. Shutting of your computer, you climbed into bed. Almost immediately, you fell asleep.
