Jade was a bright, and happy little girl. Keyword being 'was'. Her parents never abused her. Not physically at least. By the time she's in middle school she's had enough of the mental torture. She went from an animal-loving, pink-wearing, very caring, playful child to a scissor-loving, black-wearing, sadistic Goth with an 'I don't give a fuck' attitude most know her to be. She no longer express her feelings, nor does she open up to anyone, exceptions being Beck, her boyfriend, and Cat, her best friend. And also Tori Vega. Not that she'll ever admit it.
