I stepped outside on the back porch, the cold wind piercing my back. I zipped up Kendrick's jacket as I sat down next to him. He threw out his cigarette and rubbed his hands on his sides. "Baby I swear I didn't know, I swear I couldn't have known I, I,"

"you don't have to explain yourself babe," he said as he looked me in the eyes. He took his finger and wiped away the tears that were falling.

"I do baby, I don't want you to think that I knew about this I swear I didn't, I had no clue what he was doing out here in these streets I was struggling going to school and trying to maintain a ruff over me and Jamir's head," I responded as I sniffled.

"Babe I know I didn't accuse you of anything,"

"But you were ignoring me, and you seemed upset," I pouted.

"Babe I just needed some time to gather my thoughts and clear my head, this shit hit like a ton of bricks. I'm torn. As much as I hate Corey, I can't kill him. I don't want Jamir to grow up hating me cause he's going to find out about this situation, so I want to do what's right so I won't loose my son," he said with all seriousness.

I know this was the wrong time to be getting horny, but to hear him say Jamir was his son turned me on. The seriousness in his voice struck a cord and had me leaking like a faucet. I crossed my legs and listened as he talked. He was so damn sexy when he was being serious.

As I listened to him Mary J. Blige's Everything began to play in my head. I was trying to focus but I was so lost in him. Lost in the way he fixed his mouth when he spoke, Lost in how caring and understanding he was. He has really grown, he's thinking more clearer, and making wiser decisions.

"Aye Kendrick," Jayceon said as he came outside.

"Hey sis," he said acknowledging me.

"Hey," I responded.

"What's good?" Kendrick asked.

"Me and Amber going up to visit Q, I made that phone call, she said you know where she at," he replied as he put his hood on and threw his cigarette out.

Amber's car pulled up into the driveway. She waved at me and I waved back.

"Iight Dot see you tomorrow,"

"Aye Jace," Kendrick replied.

"see ya sis,"

"See ya bro be safe," I said as I watched him get in the car. Amber nodded at Kendrick and he nodded back. I watched as she backed out of the driveway and disappeared down the street.

"Babe I'm going to see Treasure tomorrow, she agreed to come forth and testify saying that she knew Corey had set everything up, and she knew Quincy had been set up by his half brother,"

"And she's willing to risk her job?" I asked.

"I don't know, but I want you to come with me in case she tries something," he said.

"I was going anyways," I said correcting him.

He chuckled and leaned in giving me a few pecks on the lips. I grabbed his chin pulling him back for a long lingering kiss. He gripped my waist and began rubbing up my back and our kiss depended.

I was about to climb on top of him when we were interrupted by soft giggles and dog barking. I looked up to see Jamir, Blue, Mama, and Diamond standing at the door.

"Can y'all at least let the first batch be born before y'all make some more?" Mama snapped as we laughed.

"Sorry mama," I chuckled.

"The foods ready y'all come and get what Jayceon left," she laughed.

"Okay we'll be right there," I replied.

Kendrick grabbed my face and pulled me in a for another kiss. "I love you," he said looking into my eyes.

"I love you too baby with all my heart," I said as I ran my fingers through his hair.

"You do?" He smirked as he looked back at Jamir. He nodded and Jamir came out smiling.

I covered my face as soon as Jamir gave Kendrick the small book from out of his pocket.

"Hey Lil man I wanna ask you for your permission, can I marry your mommy?" He asked Jamir.

The tears began to fall from my eyes as Jamir gave him the biggest smile  and nodded. "Yes daddy you can," he said as Mama Paula and Grandma Julia began to cry.

He grabbed the ring out of the box as well as my hand I began to shake and squirm. "Bae I couldn't prolong this shit no longer, even though we going through what we going through I can't let that step in the way of what I'm feeling inside, i shoulda done this alonggggg time ago, but that's neither here nor there I guess what I'm really trying to say is Jazmine Marie Sullivan will you marry me?" He asked.

"YES Kendrick I'll marry you!" I squealed in excitement. He put the ring on my finger and I bent down to peck his lips.

"Congratulations babies," Mama Paula said as she came over and gave me a hug.

"Thank you mama," I said smiling from ear to ear.

"You finally did it boy took you long enough!" His grandma said as we laughed.

"Also, all I need right now is you signature, and Jamir and Blue will be Jamir and Blue Duckworth," he said as he pulled out two pieces of folded up papers from out of his pocket.

"Sign it mommy so Me finally be a Duckworth," Jamir smiled.

"Yeah mommy Jas sign it," Blue smiled.

Mama Paula handed me a pen and I signed my name . The tears were flowing down my eyes I couldn't control my emotions. I was happy, nervous, excited all in one. I couldn't believe his moment was right now. Even with all the shit that's about to happen, I guess I should let all that go and focus on what's important, I finally finally FINALLY got my ring, and my babies finally got their last names
