After class the four of us, all except for Duke, hurry out of the classroom. River runs out because he's trying to talk with Samantha, I am running because I wanna see how it goes, and Avery is probably running because he'll have to wait for centuries if he doesn't get out now.
I see River drag Samantha into a classroom, and I walk inside with Avery before the door closes. Luckily, it's empty.
"What the fuck happened?" is how River decides to start a conversation.
After three thousand hours, Samantha looks up and meets his eyes.
"River I know you made a bet about me," she says.
Well interesting. She knows about the little gaming bet.
"What?"
"That day in the café, I know you and Scarlet made a bet about me. That's why you asked me out, isn't it?"
"No," I exclaim. "No, it is not. Listen, he actually did start liking you, and then we played some stupid video game. We dared him to ask you out because we knew he didn't have the balls to. He just formulated it like a fucktard in the café."
"Yeah, that's almost true," Avery adds in. Jerk.
I hit his ribs with my elbow and he shuts up.
"You like me?" Samantha asks.
"Isn't it obvious yet?" Avery asks Samantha as if she has no brain for not realizing it. Which is kinda true.
"Yeah," River answers her, completely ignoring Avery and I's presence, that, when I think about it, is completely irrelevant since we shouldn't even be in this room right now. "So do you wanna go out with me or not?"
She looks down smiling, the answer clear on her face.
"Yeah. I'd love to."
I turn to Avery when he buzzed my arm, seeing a smirk on his lips.
"I'll finish my part of the deal today."
"Great."
He takes out his phone and rolls his eyes when he sees the name on the screen. I mirror his actions when seeing Duke calling.
"Seriously Duke?" Avery says after answering and putting the phone on speaker. "Skipping today won't rescue you from the deal."
"Listen, I'm in the east hallway and you have to help me," I hear Duke's voice say.
"What have you done?" I ask.
"I haven't done anything. It's the deal. I'm doing my part. Just get yourselves to the east hallway."
"On our way," Avery tells his crazy friend and hangs up. He turns to River and Samantha who've started chitchatting. "Anyone wanna see Duke in a bikini?"
