Jordan wiped the bile from the corners of her mouth onto the sleeve of her shirt. Tanner looked at her with a sinister grin. His unnaturally white teeth were glowing in the dark. The sight almost looked like it was something Stephen King would write about.

"Did you honestly think I would stay away after a stunt like that?"

"Go away," Jordan demanded, her voice cracking.

"Either way you know I'm still going to get it my way. So quit choosing the most difficult way and unlock the fucking door."

Jordan took a deep breath before she spoke again. "Go away," she repeated.

"Why do you keep rebelling? You know I own you! The more you rebel the more I sway to post it. Part of me just really wants to see you crash and burn. But, the other part of me wants to protect you from it." An insane laugh followed behind his shouts. "Ha! Who am I kidding? Why would I want to protect you from this? This would be the scandal of the century! You ruin your family and you don't get to go to college. How funny is that? I mean that's absolutely comical, Jordan!"

Jordan didn't say anything she just stood there, completely and utterly defeated. She couldn't let this be the 'scandal of the century' or whatever Tanner hoped for it to become. She had to remain submissive and let him be in control.

She fished around her pockets for her house key. She turned her sweatpants pockets inside out. Her keys were missing. She tried racking her brain to think where she last put her keys, but Jordan was almost positive she kept them in her pocket the entire time she was at the party.

Oh fuck, Jordan thought, this is a monumental mistake.

Suddenly, Jordan remembered that she ran into Jaxson as she was running away from Tanner at Caleb's party. Maybe he stole the keys. That would make it even worse.

Jordan's throat went dry. "T-Tanner? I, uh, don't have my keys. . .I think I need to, um, go back to the party and, well, get them."

Tanner furiously strode over to Jordan and he brought his hand up as if he was going to hit her. Jordan flinched and Tanner surprisingly brought his hand down.

He rubbed his temples with his hands and looked back at Jordan. "That's fine. We can go back and get them. I'll drive you to Caleb's."

They both got into Tanner's car in silence. The only thing that filled the silence was the radio playing trashy rap music. Jordan was wracking her brain trying to figure out how she could get her keys back from Jaxson. She knew if Tanner would find out if he had the keys he would be furious. Even if it wasn't Jordan's fault he was always the crazy jealous type. At first Jordan found it flattering, but it slowly got worse and worse. And considering Tanner's recent behavior this terrified her to her very core. She knew Tanner would assume the worst and automatically think that she was cheating on him with Jaxson.

Once they got to Caleb's house, Tanner instructed Jordan to go inside and get the keys while he waited in his car. Jordan gladly got out of the car. The party was still as lively as ever. She weaved through dozens of her fellow classmates. Jordan eventually found Jaxson talking to a group of his friends. They all seemed to be sober compared to the other kids at the party.

"Jaxson, I need to talk to you." Jordan swallowed hard, her throat was dry and it hurt like hell to speak.

Jaxson excused himself from his friends and walked over to Jordan, a playful smirk was placed on his mouth. "I bet I know exactly why you want to talk to me."

Jordan rolled her eyes. She didn't need to deal with yet another egotistical boy. Jaxson fished a cigarette out of his pocket and lit it while he waited for Jordan's response.
