Addilyn's POV
"The Red String. It connects two souls. It can stretch and bend but, never break. Some times, very rarely, these souls don't work out or in rare cases...... some people don't have a string. Most waste the rest of their lives, trying to find the end of their string. Some find it at a young age. It all depends on the kind of people. Only you can see your strin--" I cut off Mrs. Rickard as she came to the ending of our lesson.
"Mrs. Rickard..... I don't have the string..."
*Year 2018*
And that was the day, I ruined my life. Ever since that day. I have been teased, hit, pushed, shoved, kicked, and bullied in general.......
I was walking down the hallway and the usual whispers followed.
"Freak."
"She's never going to find love."
"She isn't even that pretty. She's hopeless."
I tilted my head towards the ground and felt my eyes soften. Once I was towards the end of the hallway, I saw my two best, and only, friends talking to each other. I could hear them talking about their soulmates. Apparently, they found them a few weeks ago on the plane trip coming back from Spain. One of them turned their head towards me.
"Oh! Hey, Addy!" My friend, Yuri, called out to me. I looked at her beautiful sky blue eyes. She was one of the prettiest and most popular girls in the grade. I was surprised when she approached me a few years ago. Guessing on how she approached me, she felt sympathy, considering I didn't have a string.
"Oh! Addy! I didn't see you! We were just talking about our mates!" Royce said, turning her head to me, following Yuri's gaze. She looks like she'd be a brown haired country girl but, nope. She's one of the populars, just like Yuri. These two are at the top of the school food chain while I lay at the bottom of it. With only the cafeteria food below me. I want to fit in so I often talk about how I might have a soul mate out there.... Though, I highly doubt it.

Towards the end of the day, Yuri, Royce, and I were walking home when the two broke into conversation.
"Hey, Addy. Royce and I were thinking about heading to the movies with our mates, Wanna come with?" Yuri asked looking down the three inch difference between us.
"Um... I don't really know, it's just been awhile since I've talked to other people." My hoarse voice says. Yuri and Royce look at each other, and smile.
"Well, you won't have to talk to anyone. We just want you out of that crummy house. You need to come see the movie with us... Its not the same without you." Royce adds, rubbing her arm. My frown immediately turns upside down. Slowly, I feel a faint blush slide across my cheek. They have always been there for me. Through heck, and back. They are my true friends
"Hey! Don't go blushing on me, I only said that so you could come out to the movies with us. Now lets go to my house, so we can clean you up." Royce says stomping away.
"Don't worry, she ment every word." Yuri whispers to me, and winks.
~~~
"Oh My God!!! You look so cute." Royce says, with stars in her eyes.
I stand in front of the full body mirror. I'm wearing black tights, a strapless blue shirt, and some black heels. Not my usual get up.
My hair is pulled back, and is tied in a bun. The baby hairs on my forehead cling to my skin. The foundation, mascara, and lipstick make me look like a barbie. But, if Royce says I look pretty, I'll take it.
Just then, the door bell rings, and we all head to the car. As we open the door, Yuri's mate holds a box of chocolate, and Royce's mate holds a blood red rose.
"Hey you two, ready to go," Their eyes land on me, and they say go, a lot longer than expected. Quinton, Royce's mate smiles.
"And who might this lovely lady be." He smiles, and places his lips, to my hand. He pulls away immediately, and steps back. "Sorry." He mumbles. Royce has always been the one for picking fights. But, only when needed. So, when she first met Quinton, she made sure to establish her place.
Axel, Yuri's mate smiles down at me. "Pleasure to meet you, Miss?"
"Oh, Addilyn Campbell." I extend my hand for him to shake. He takes it.
"It is the most greatest pleasures to meet you, Miss Campbell." He gives a quick shake, then pulls away. "Yuri talks a lot about you, and how you have no string."
My heart stops.
"I had too, Addy, I could not just keep a secret from him. Its not like he's going to call the cops. Wait, are you?" Yuri's eyes light up with hate.
Sweat drops from Axels forehead, and he shakes. "N-no! I would never do that to you. Disrespecting your rules! Ha, good one." Alex fake laughs.
"I don't think that was a joke." My voice rings in the room. My arms are crossed, and my foot taps the floor, impatiently. "Lets just get this day over with." I step away from the boys, and pile into the back seat of their car.
