Sarah's POV
"What's this?" Jeremy asked, taking something off the piano. I panicked when I saw he was flipping through my notebook.
"Oh," I jumped up and tried to take it from him. "It's. . . It's nothing. Give it back."
"Are these lyrics?" He asked, holding it just out of reach.
"Jeremy, I'm serious. Give it back."
"Lost Boy? Is this a new song?"
"Yes. Well no. It's just something I've been messing with. It's. . . It's nothing." I said finally taking the notebook from his hand and quickly shutting it.
"Will you sing it for me?" He asked, sitting at the piano.
"No," I answered a little too quickly.
"Please?" He asked patting the seat next to him. I debated before finally sitting next to him. I grabbed the sheet music I had already written for the song that was currently hiding behind the rest of the sheet music.
"Just. . . I'm still working on it so don't. . . Don't laugh."
"There was a time when I was alone
Nowhere to go and no place to call home
My only friend was the man in the moon
And even sometimes he would go away, tooThen one night, as I closed my eyes
I saw a shadow flying high
He came to me with the sweetest smile
Told me he wanted to talk for awhile
He said, "Peter Pan, that's what they call me
I promise that you'll never be lonely, " and ever since that dayI am a lost boy from Neverland
Usually hanging out with Peter Pan
And when we're bored we play in the woods
Always on the run from Captain Hook
"Run, run, lost boy, " they say to me
Away from all of realityNeverland is home to lost boys like me
And lost boys like me are free
Neverland is home to lost boys like me
And lost boys like me are freeHe sprinkled me in pixie dust and told me to believe
Believe in him and believe in me
Together we will fly away in a cloud of green
To your beautiful destiny
As we soared above the town that never loved me
I realized I finally had a family
Soon enough we reached Neverland
Peacefully my feet hit the sand
And ever since that dayI am a lost boy from Neverland
Usually hanging out with Peter Pan
And when we're bored we play in the woods
Always on the run from Captain Hook
"Run, run, lost boy, " they say to me
Away from all of realityNeverland is home to lost boys like me
And lost boys like me are free
Neverland is home to lost boys like me
And lost boys like me are freePeter Pan, Tinkerbell, Wendy Darling
Even Captain Hook, you are my perfect story book
Neverland, I love you so
You are now my home sweet home
Forever a lost boy at lastPeter Pan, Tinkerbell, Wendy Darling
Even Captain Hook, you are my perfect story book
Neverland, I love you so
You are now my home sweet home
Forever a lost boy at lastAnd for always I will say
I am a lost boy from Neverland
Usually hanging out with Peter Pan
And when we're bored we play in the woods
Always on the run from Captain Hook
"Run, run, lost boy, " they say to me
Away from all of realityNeverland is home to lost boys like me
And lost boys like me are free
Neverland is home to lost boys like me
And lost boys like me are free."I held my breath as I waited for Jeremy to say something. I looked at him, biting my lip, and saw a big smile on his face.
"Sarah," he said softly, "that was amazing!" I couldn't help but giggle as he turned back to the first page and slowly started playing the first few chords.
"You play?"
"A little," he shrugged. "So, why haven't you recorded this? I mean, it's gonna be a hit. I bet Mr. Hanson loved it."
"I wouldn't know," I sighed as I stood up.
"What do you mean?" He asked, following me.
"I haven't showed him." I said slowly as I stopped walking and turned around making him almost bump into me.
"What do you mean you haven't showed him? Wouldn't he love it?"
"My guess would be no," I said wrapping my arms around myself and avoiding eye contact.
"You guess? How do you know if you've never even tried?"
"I have tried!" I yelled making him jump slightly. I bit my lip trying to stop the tears. Jeremy's eyes widened when he saw the tears finally begin to fall. "Every time I try to approach him with a new song, he doesn't even listen to it. He just says to hand it over to the writers."
"The writers? Sarah, do you not write your own music?" He asked slowly.
"Well I do but. . . He never likes them but he likes me so he hired two men to write my songs. Which is why they are usually about being sexy and "dance worthy". I thought that after my first album came out, Mr. Hanson would have a little more faith in me, but. . ."
"Sarah," he sighed when he saw me bit my lip, trying to stop the tears that were still streaming down my cheeks. "You are Sunny. Not Mr. Hanson. Not those sexist writers. You."
I turned around and took a few steps away from him when I noticed we had somehow gotten closer and closer with each sentence.
"Jeremy," I sighed, turning back around to face him again. "Yes I am Sunny, but Mr. Hanson owns "Sunny" and her songs. He owns Sunny so he owns me."
