Ahsoka dreamed, once again. Mortis. Vader removed his menacing mask to reveal the Anakin Skywalker Ahsoka had once known. He saw Ahsoka. He looked directly at her. Seeing Anakin's face brought back memories: ones of security and protection. Ahsoka moved towards Vader and removed the tears falling down his face, taking extra care, a concerned look etched on her face.

"Snips?" "Anakin." Hearing her nickname after so many years made Ahsoka impulsively cast her arms around Vader's neck. They held each other for a while before Ahsoka pulled back, searching his tortured eyes. There was nothing there but guilt and pain. Ahsoka traced her finger down Anakin's scar. "I forgive you," she told Anakin, hoping it would provide some sort of comfort for him. Ahsoka fully let go of him and walked away, there was nothing more she needed to say. The words had surprised her too, but she was being honest. It didn't matter how much Ahsoka wanted to despise the man. The fact was that she couldn't hate him. He was Anakin.
After her dream, Ahsoka stumbled around Bail's guest room. She eventually found the light-switch and plunged the room into a bright light. Ahsoka was suddenly sure of something: she would do everything in her power to redeem the sith lord, Darth Vader. And, she was quite sure she could succeed. The vision showed Ahsoka exactly what she needed- hope. It showed her that Anakin Skywalker was not completely gone- he was vulnerable. He felt guilty, Ahsoka knew it. And, that, she could work with.
Ahsoka needed to get going, Bail had kindly provided her with a ship to get off-world and Ahsoka had finished her brief goodbyes to Bail, his wife and Leia. She planned on setting up camp on an outer-rim planet: Lurin. It went pretty well un-noticed from the Empire. That quality was particularly appealing to Ahsoka. She knew it would be no good confronting Vader, especially when she wasn't capable of defending herself. So, Ahsoka had decided: she would go into self-exile while she could become powerful. It would be necessary to be capable of defending herself against Vader. And Ahsoka knew, for the well-being of the galaxy, she would need to stay alive.
Vader was pulled into sleep, the haven was the only time he wasn't in mentally excruciating pain. His mind was still poisoned with the grief of his wife's death. Vader permitted his mind to wander to what happened on Mortis, to her.
Vader screeched in agonising pain, feeling the power from the Son flowing through his mechanical arm and throughout his whole body. It was repairing Vader's disfigured body. But, it was tearing him apart at the very same time. Finally, the harrowing deed was done and he was left with a whole body. Free of any damage or burns. He reached up to the very thing that had once kept him alive: his helmet. He removed it and stood up. Vader was far more powerful; it was liberating to be free of his torturous helmet, courtesy of Palpatine. Something caught his attention. Vader glanced to his right and held his stare. There she stood, seemingly achieving the impossible. The semi-transparent frame of his wife gazed back.

Padmé paced over to her love and reached up to Vader's face. She gently wiped away the tears that travelled down his guilt-ridden face. Her touch was soft and nurturing, but something was different.
"Padmé?" "Anakin." Padmé threw her arms around Vader and they embraced for some time, savouring the seconds they were allowed to share.

After some time, Padmé lifted her head and peered into his eyes while carefully trailing her thumb down his signature scar. She looked at him sorrowfully. "I forgive you," the woman said. Except the voice was not Padmé's. She let go of Vader and walked backwards. Vader blinked. In Padmé's place was the only other woman Vader loved. Ahsoka. She continued to walk backwards until the clouds melted into her body. And, Vader could tell she was gone. The woman with flowers in her hair, was gone.
