nari groaned out loud, catching the attention of mark who was all the way in the kitchen. he made his way onto the sofa right next to nari. "why are you groaning so loudly?" he asked, nari shrugged.

there was a moment of silence for about ten seconds before mark decided to start a new topic. "how's lucas? is he doing okay?" he questioned, nari rolled her eyes and looked at mark.

mark got the hint that they werent in talking terms anymore. he awkwardly laughed and stood up to get the food from the kitchen. coming back, he looked at his best friend scrolling through social media.

"are you sure you dont like him?" mark asked, slowly crunching on the popcorn that he bought on the way. nari looked up from her phone, then at him. "who?" she returned the question.

mark sighed, "yukhei," he said. nari sat up right, then let out a scoff and a 'psh'. "no," she blurted out a little too loudly. mark chuckled, tilting his head. nari looked at him, she weakly punched mark on the chest.

"i barely know the guy!" she emphasized on 'barely'. mark rolled his eyes, "why dont you just talk to him?" he said. nari couldnt find an excuse at the moment. because there wasnt any excuse.

she thought of a believable excuse and blurted out, "because jihoon will kill me?" which turned out more like a question. mark laughed, totally not believing her. "nari, in this friendship, you literally control the both of us. im pretty sure you would kill jihoon more than he would kill you," he cooed.

nari bit the inside of her cheek, she groaned. "shut up mark, if you say one more word related to lucas im going to slap you," she threatened him. "im pretty sure he doesnt even think about me,"

"yo, where are you?!" mark whispered loudly on the phone. nari was late to school because she overslept and didnt hear her alarm. not too late, just half an hour. "shut up mark! i cant talk and run at the same time!" she panted.

running up the stairs, the security guard stopped her. "youre late," he sternly said while folding his arms. nari hung up the phone and immediately smiled sheepishly at the guard. "i mean — i'm just a minute late!" she mumbled to herself, looking away.

"a minute?! you're almost an hour late!" he raised his voice. he walked over to nari and grabbed her by the sleeves of her uniform and dragged her to the detention room. "wait, hear me out! it's just my first time, cant you cut me some slack?" she begged.

the guard pretended to think, "nope!" he faked a smile and then threw her into the room. "wait till mdm jung comes in, she'll tell you what to do," he explained and then locked the room door shut with a key. nari looked at him slowly walking away from the door.

nari groaned. turning to find a seat, her eyes widened when she saw lucas sitting right smack in the middle of the room. his legs propped up on the table in front of him, his hands in the pocket of his pants, he stared into empty space, then slowly turning his gaze at nari.

their eyes met, nari looked away quickly. she slowly walked to the back of the class and sat on one of the chairs. she took out her phone and texted jihoon that she's in the detention room. jihoon replied within minutes, 'what a loser,' nari rolled her eyes.

jihoon went offline after a few minutes, which meant that nari was lonely. she couldnt face lucas after having that dumb argument with him. but the awkward silence between them had to end, right? nari rested her chin on the palm of her hands, looking at lucas who was fiddling with his fingers, staring into empty space.

lucas knew that nari was in the same room as him, but he didnt want to talk to her. lucas thought that she hated him, and although lucas may seem like a bad boy on the outside, he's someone who is very sensitive in the inside. nari didnt know that. lucas wanted to talk to her so bad.

actually, lucas was a little disappointed that nari expected him to be a player. he was a little disheartened that she told him that he didnt care about anyone. every single time he felt like talking to her, he'd stop and think about what nari said and he'd get angry.

lucas knew nari was staring. "do you want to die?" lucas scoffed, looking at the whiteboard in front of them which reflected the image of the two of them. nari looked away. "you could get yourself killed if you stare at someone like that," lucas cooed. he poked the inside of his cheek with his tongue, expecting nari to say something.

"oh, sorry," was all nari said. she was afraid of him, still. although lucas did two kind gestures towards her, who knows what he'd do next. she turned her gaze over to somewhere that wasnt close to lucas. "at least i didnt flip someone off for getting to know someone," lucas muttered under his breath, a remark towards nari. unfortunately for him, she heard him.

nari rolled her eyes. "i swear if you say something else, i wont hesitate to get up there and punch you," she sarcastically remarked, a little too loudly for lucas to hear. "ah, chae nari, what are you going to do? i'd like to see your pathetic ass try," he snickered, loudly, for her to hear.

the girl stood up from her chair and walked over to lucas who slowly standing up. nari had her fists clenched. "i hate you so much, yukhei," she spat out. lucas widened his eyes, he didnt know that she knew his real name. he hated people calling him by his real name, especially people that he disliked. "dont call me that, chae," he gritted his teeth.

"what are you going to do?" she faked a smile, purposely teasing him. "yah, wong yukhei, you dont scare me," she folded her arms, staring right into his eyes. lucas grabbed her wrists and pinned her up against the wall. nari didnt flinch, she waited for lucas to hurt her, since he claimed that he was the king of the school.

lucas breathed in and out heavily. his black hair slowly falling right in front of him, covering his eyes. nari didnt break eye contact. no denying that there was tension in between them at the moment. the atmosphere was slowly getting heated and they both knew it.

their noses were just inches away from each other. the more they stared at each other, the more they both know that something else would happen next if neither of them look away. but, i guess they both did want something to happen.

lucas slowly leaned in forward, his forehead resting against hers, she wanted her lips to meet his', but at the same time, she didnt want to. her heart was beating so fast, lucas' too. they both wanted each other, but something was stopping them. even they, themselves, didnt know what it was.

the bell rang which meant it was lunch. just in time, the door was unlocked. the both of them were greeted by mdm jung, the school principal. her eyes widened at the position they both were in. "lucas, nari," she called them out.

"i'm going to pretend that i'm not seeing whatever is happening now," she explained. "but for whatever reason that you guys are in now, i hope it wont happen again," she added, before walking off, shutting the door on them.

lucas eventually rested his forehead on the wall right next to nari. he let go of her wrists. he expected nari to leave, but she stayed. "yah lucas!" the two of them heard someone yell from right outside the window.

lucas' head shot up, nari peeped outside of the window. it was yaemin shouting from down the field. "screw you! i found another guy! i hope you die a virgin!" she screamed out loud.

nari couldnt help but suppress her laughter. lucas shook his head, before realizing that nari was laughing. he immediately turned his gaze over to her. "what are you laughing at?!" he raised his voice. nari sighed, walking over to her table and picking up her belongings.

"nothing, just cant believe the self proclaimed bad boy slash king of the school is still a little precious virgin," she snickered, hand on the door handle, she was about to open the door when lucas ran over to her. "wait! promise me you wont tell anyone about what she said?" lucas begged.

nari raised her eyebrows, "about?" she asked. lucas rolled his eyes, "about me being a virgin," he whispered. nari chuckled, pushing lucas's hand off the door knob, she faked a smile and said, "i'll think about it," before leaving.
