Chapter Thirteen

Target Acquired

Reborn walked casually towards his intended destination. He may look liked a tourist simply strolling over the place, but in all reality, his hands which are tucked deep in his pocket were curled. His instincts were itching to hit, fight, even kill someone. His mind could still not believe that some minutes ago, there was an assassination attempt on him.

Who is their right mind would try and assassinate an archobaleno who had lived far longer than a person could ever imagine?

He coughed, unconsciously. But, never do the mistake of calling him old.

He had barely made a step when a mope of black and white flew in his direction. He moved his knee backward and swing it to kick the object – er person.

"Ouch!" Lambo rubbed his aching head. He had just landed on the ground, hard. "Reborn!" he practically screamed Reborn's name as he rushed towards him, tears falling from his eyes. Reborn's eyes twitched before he kicked him again.

Lambo's scream was louder. "What had happened?" Reborn questioned. "Ah--!" Lambo stood up, as if just remembering something important. "there! There!" Lambo screamed as he pulled two grenades and ran at the direction from which he came from. Reborn followed.

Reborn was greeted with a fascinating sight, albeit what he deems as fascinating.

Bianchi was busy throwing her specialties on man sporting a casual, business attire who looked like he was pulled out from a spy movie. On her side where I-Pin, poised to attack. And on the farthest stood Fuuta, hands clenched as if praying for the safety of his comrade.

"Reborn!" Bianchi paused for a second to smile casually at Reborn.

Reborn snickered, both of them see this man as no greater threat to their abilities, least of all to Bianchi's ability alone. She's an assassin, and this man – whoever this man is – appeared as merely another bodyguard.

He paused and took a closer look at the man's insignia as the man attempt to block I-Pin's attack while simultaneously dodging Lambo's pathetic attempts at throwing grenades.

He ought to teach that brat.

After a second, I-Pin had managed to side step the man and he fell to the ground. A large serving of Bianchi's special plastered immediately at his face.

Years of expertise was what saved Reborn from emptying what contained on his stomach. Bianchi's cooked food was never a sight to see.

He walked casually towards the fallen man, taking in his attire and insignia.

"Do you recognize it?" Bianchi said as she lowered to the ground. Using her hand, she wiped the spilled ingredients on the man's chest and held up the insignia embroidered on his chest pocket. Just a few feet away from them, the three children's voice of happiness resounded as they celebrate their victory.

Let them have it, Reborn thought with a barely minor hint of softness. What can he do? These children grew on him.

Not that he's getting old, or whatever.

Reborn shook his head. "I don't." Even though that goes on without saying.

The disbelief on Bianchi's face made Reborn want to shoot her. Yes, it goes without saying that Reborn is like a walking plot device, knowing every little thing there is to know about everything, but that doesn't apply to...well, everything. Reborn knew that he should know, that he ought know stuff like this because it goes without saying that he is like the spy of the Vongola, knowing every little detail to know of their enemy.
