Chapter 12: Target Acquired

Start from the beginning

But this one, he has no clue.

And Reborn hated himself for it. He should know.

He opened his phone and texted his past student, Dino, to come so he could give a hand to the situation. He doesn't want to handle Hibari at his worst. He doesn't have enough patient for that.

"Why are you so far from Tsuna's house?" Reborn bothered to glance at Bianchi. He loved the fact that he towers almost everyone now.

Bianchi looked ashamed for a second before she put on her mask of indifference. Reborn felt disappointed at her. She's slacking, he thought. No assassin should bluntly display their emotions like that.

Thankfully, Bianchi had noticed his disappointment. She stood up and straightened herself.

And reported to him everything that had happened.

He shot three times.

None of the guardians rounded on the living room flinched.

Good.

His eyes were shadowed by the fedora he wore, but that made him more threatening. The shot still emits some smoke from where the bullets were now embedded.

All of the occupants knew that he never misses. Thus, it was a common knowledge that the fact that the bullets were millimeters away from Gokudera's eyes were intentional.

"What. Happened." Reborn's voice resounded across the silence of the room.

Gokudera, Yamamoto, and Ryohei were seated on the sofa just across from where Reborn was seated while Dino stand on his side. Hibara stood by the doorway, while Mukuro and Chrome stood by the other side of the wall.

Bianchi and the three children were at the other room, thankfully, quite a distance from Reborn's wrath.

None of the other occupants dared to mutter another word.

Reborn could feel his rage growing. He took aim and shot each of the guardians millimeters away from their head. It happened so fast, none of them were able to react.

"I won't miss the second time," Reborn said, gun aimed again.

Mukuro doesn't want to admit mistake, but he has too much of self-preservation instinct to dare question Reborn's ability to kill an important member of the famiglia. "We've been played," he answered in his vaguely casual way.

Reborn didn't utter another word, urging them to fill in.

"There was another illusionist, going through the form of the boss," Mukuro said, he too was getting annoyed by the silence of his comrade. Hibari, he could forgive – barely – since that man never knew how to speak anyway.

"I have felt the presence of him, and had gone to the school to confront him. Unfortunately, it led to a lot of misunderstandings. And a lot of clarity."

Reborn could feel his head ticking. He's too pissed to ride Mukuro's vagueness. Can't he be serious and at point for once?

"Tsuna was absent for day, calling in sick when we came by his house this morning." Fortunately for all the occupants of the room, Yamamoto had begun voicing out his thoughts. "But then, I saw him, with my baseball teammates. He ran when I confronted him. But I was able to meet him again, along with the others."

"Then Tsuna got stabbed by Mukuro." Ryohei interjected.

Reborn almost, almost, gunned them again.

"That was the illusionist!" Chrome was quick to defend her idol.

"She spoke the truth. Tsuna was...someone. But he disappeared. We decided to investigate further and notice that another Tsuna was within the vicinity. We confronted him, and a battle ensued." Gokudera's voice resemble that of a robot.

Reborn nodded, getting the gist of the situation. He pulled out a patch from one of his pockets and placed it on the table. All of the other occupants' eyes zeroed in on the patch.

"A man wearing this insignia had attack earlier this morning," he said, eyeing each of the guardians.

"From where—" Gokudera was first to react.

"I don't know." Their disbelief was almost comical for Reborn now. Irritating, but expected.

"None of the insignia came up from the database. We had Spanner check." Dino said, joining in the conversation.

"But one thing's for certain," Reborn said, eyes blazing with barely contained anger. How dare they. "They're aiming for Tsuna."
