Rose gasped as she woke up, sweat dripping down her forehead and her hands tightly grasping the bedsheets.
"Rose?" Josh mumbled from next to her, his eyes fluttering open. Rose took a deep breath and looked around. Everyone was fast asleep and what had just happened was a dream...
"Oh my God," Rose mumbled as she drew her legs to her chest and wrapped her arms around herself. Josh sat up, now concerned by how shaken Rose was. He placed an arm around her and without another second passing, Rose sunk into his grasp and started to cry.
"I thought everyone had died," she whispered into his top as Ethan snored loudly from the other side of the lounge.
"Well everyone is quite alive," Josh reassured Rose as he began stroking her hair, the curly brown strands falling down her back. The pair turned to look when something moved, making Rose jump.
"What's happened?" Simon asked from the sofa, his eyes still half-closed. Rose sniffled, and Simon rolled off the sofa, nearly landing on Josh in the process. He then put his hands out and Rose looked at them questioningly.
"Come here," Simon whispered, careful not to wake the others even though if they were going to wake up, Ethan would've made them wake up earlier.
Rose looked at Josh quickly before crawling into Simon's arms. Josh sent Simon a thankful smile before settling back down and falling asleep once more. Simon stood up and Rose followed him up into his bedroom where the two sat on the bed.
"What happened?" Simon asked after a while of sitting with his arms wrapped around a shaking Rose Williams.
"In my dream, everyone was held hostage, and everyone died," Rose mumbled into Simon's chest, his heartbeat soothing her. Simon rubbed Rose's back and she let out a choked sob.
"I saw you die, I was forced to watch you die," she revealed before letting out sobs, that if they had been downstairs, defiantly would've woken everybody up. Simon, without meaning to, gripped onto Rose harder and pulled her closer.
Simon had always felt this way, that he needed to protect Rose in everyway possible. Ever since they'd met, all those years ago, he knew there was something about the brown-haired blue-eyed girl that would always make him need her, some way or another.
"I'm right here Ro," Simon said into Rose's hair as she grasped onto his t-shirt, crinkling it but that didn't matter. Simon used his hand to take Rose's chin in between his fingers and lift her face towards his.
"Rose, I'd never leave you and I hope you know that," he said softly as Rose's eyes scanned his face like he'd suddenly vanish.
"I love you too much to leave you," Simon revealed. Rose's mouth opened slightly, and she gasped. Never in her life had Rose Williams thought she'd hear those words from Simon Minter, the boy she'd watched grow into a man and grown to love.
"You're my best friend."
Rose's heart, which had been in heaven, dropped to hell. Best friend? She was only a friend to Simon and why she thought he'd meant any different, she didn't know.
Rose pushed herself away from Simon and climbed off the bed. She wiped away any remaining tears and turned away from Simon who was mightily confused.
"I'm okay now, thank you," said Rose before practically running out the bedroom, leaving Simon staring after her with a confused look on his face. What had he done?
☁
Simon ran his fingers through his hair after everyone had left, Sarah and Callum leaving last.
"JJ!" Simon called as he jogged upstairs to the younger boy's bedroom. He pushed open the door and JJ turned around, in joggers only. JJ went to protest but Simon was already collapsed on the large bed, spread out like a starfish.
"I think Rose hates me," Simon confessed as JJ walked towards him, hands on hips. The younger boy sighed and sat on the bed.
"Now why would she hate you?" JJ asked as Simon sat up and ran a hand through his hair. He looked at his best friend and sighed.
"I think I friend zoned her last night," he said sadly before flopping on his back once more. JJ groaned and turned to look at the blonde.
"You idiot, you've been going on about how much you like her so you friend zone her?" he whined as Simon frowned.
"Yep, like a twat," said Simon sadly before sitting up. He needed to speak to Rose and sort this out, he couldn't just let her go.
"I'll be back in a mo," he said to JJ and before JJ could reply, Simon was gone.

Simon was out of breath by the time he'd reached Harry's flat, his face red and sweat dripping from his forehead.
"Why did I not take the fucking car?" he moaned to himself as he arrived at Harry's flat. He knocked and waited for a reply before being met with Harry's unwelcoming expression.
"What do you want, Simon?" he asked harshly, making Simon step back a little. Since when was Harry so hostile to him?
"I'm here to see Rose about the other night," Simon replied before going on his tiptoes to try and see Rose. The brown-haired girl was sitting away from him but very obviously listening to every word.
"She doesn't want to see you, Si," Harry whispered as he used one hand to pull Simon onto his feet and the other hand to block the door. Simon frowned and looked at Harry in confusion, was Rose hurt?
"If it's about the dream, I told her I wouldn't leave her," Simon said, raising his voice so Rose could hear him. Rose's head flinched towards the sound of his voice, but she kept staring ahead, determined to forget her feelings for the blonde boy.
"It's not, it's about," Harry began but he turned and shut the door, stepping out of the apartment. "It's about her feelings for you Simon."
Simon looked at Harry then the door behind him.
"She likes me?" he asked quietly, not sure of what to think. He liked her, of course he did but he never thought she'd like him back. He never thought of what he'd do if Rose liked him back.
"Yes, you idiot. But you friend zoned her and she'd trying to forget you so just... Piss off," Harry grumbled, looking up at Simon sadly. Simon's mouth hung open in shock and hurt.
"But," he began but Harry had turned around and gone inside the flat, leaving Simon stood outside. "I like her too..."

So that was chapter 6. Luckily the whole break-in was just a dream. It wasn't supposed to be but then I was like, "bit too soon?" and so i changed it to a dream.
