We make it to the bank before Detective Glass can call us and see a one ton anvil in the middle of the floor, beneath it a bloody mess.

"That's loony, all right," Sam says as Cas wonders off to inspect a card machine at the desk. As he does, Glass walks over to us.

"Agents. I was just about to give you a ring. Got to ask – do you guys chase the crazy, or does the crazy chase you?"

"Depends on the day," Sam replies with a small smile.

"Who's the pancake?" Dean asks.

"Security guard," she replies. "He called in reporting a robbery, but by the time we got here –"

"Burglary," I correct. "Robbery is against a person, burglary requires breaking into a building - as I'm sure you should know." Glass narrows her eyes and nods at my correction. But still, looking around, there doesn't seem to be a sign of a break-in anywhere that I've seen, only a large black circle which looks as though its been sprayed to the wall. "Where did he break in?"

"He didn't," she replies. "Looks like the 'Black Hole' was trying to jimmy open a safe-deposit box when Mr. Rent-A-Cop found him. And, well... you know how that story ends."

"Black hole?" Cas asks, coming back over.

"It's our name for a burglar that's been running us ragged. He's a pro – no fingerprints, never any sign of forced entry – just a pair of those every time..." She gestures to the black circle, "...like he's signing his work. Perp's never done anything like this before, though ... obviously."

"You mind if I take a look at your files on those other break-ins?" Sam asks.

"No skin off my nose," Glass replies. "I'm headed to the station now if you want a ride."

"Perfect." Sam looks to me, but I shake my head. I need to take a better look at the crime scene, I can gather more from here. As he walks away, Dean gestures to the anvil.

"Hey. Can you lift this?" he says to Cas, and the angel moves the anvil effortlessly. An 'X' is marked on the floor underneath.

"'X' marks the spot," I say. "Well, whoever's doing this is playing by cartoon rules."

"Animation doesn't have rules," Cas replies.

"Of course it does," I reply. "In Toontown, a pretty girl can make your heart leap out of your chest, anvils fall from the sky..." I turn to the wall with the black circle painted on it, "... and if you draw a door or a black hole on the wall, you can walk right through it."

"So this is how the thief got in," Cas says, looking up at one of the circles on the outer wall.

"Burglar," I correct again. "And how he got out," I add, then point to another on an inner wall. "And cracked the vault."

Cas touches the black circle, but the wall behind it is solid. "Then why isn't it working now?"

"No idea."
