Dahyun was at the end of the table, focused and silently praying, before announcing that she was now ready to eat.

"Dig in!"

—————————————————————

I found myself munching on the rice along with the nice meat that Jihyo and Mina had made together.

"Thish ish pretty good!" I tried to say in between bites.

"Do you like the food?" Mina asked, like it wasn't obvious enough.

"Mhm!"

"See, Y/N," Jihyo began. "We've gotten pretty good at cooking! Soon enough, we won't need you here!"

I felt my heart sink at the idea of having to leave a place which was beginning to feel like home.

————————————————————————

Strangely enough, I found myself on the balcony of the dorm, leaning on the railing, the cold and bitter air of Seoul blowing through my hair.

The girls were still inside, watching some romantic drama that had just come out or something.

"Soon enough, we won't need you here!"

Jihyo's words rang through my ears.

It was an innocent joke, but it hit me where it hurt. Getting a house to stay in is hard enough, but finding a home?

Maybe when JYP finds a better translator than me, he'll just toss me out like everyone else already has.

Or the people I live with would get sick of me, annoyed with me, and just pack up my things and go.

I looked down to the empty street, only a few stories below.

"You're not thinking of jumping are you?" I heard. The soft screeching of the glass door behind me made me shiver.

"Hi, Tzuyu," I replied, her voice already familiar to me after knowing her for over a month.

"What are you doing out here?" She asked, leaning on to the railing just like I was, her long hair being lightly brushed by the air every so often.

"Oh," I cleared my throat. "You know, just like I said earlier, getting some fresh air. The smell of kimchi kind of stings after a while."

"Mmm," she hummed in response. She lifted her hand up and laid her chin on it, the metal below supporting her elbow. "We're going to perform next week near the pier, you know that right?"

"Well, yeah," I shrugged. "Of course I do, I'm gonna be there too."

"Not much work on your hands, I hope?"

"No," I smiled, pleased at myself for the amount of editing I was able to finish, leaving me with a lot more free time.

"You, know there are gonna be other bands there too, like, um, BTS."

"BTS?" I looked at her, my eyebrows ruffled. I still wasn't that familiar with most bands that weren't part of JYPE.

"BTS, the band that we were with on the TV show?"

"Ah, yes, I remember," my smile turned into a frown almost immediately. "James Cook is gonna be there, isn't he?"

"His name isn't James Cook," she said, until she notices the expression I had. "What's with the long face? You're still not over him ignoring your handshake?"

"It's not just that," I grunted. "He's just, well, arrogant, you know. He's like a narcissist. Did you hear how many times he said the word 'I' when we talked!?"

"He's not that bad Y/N," she laughed. "He's just confident."

"That's a huge understatement."

"Whatever, get over it," she sounded irritated, almost.

We were silent for a few minutes, simply staring out into the rather empty night sky of the city, the pollution fogging out the stars.

I looked over to my right, seeing a smiling Tzuyu, at ease.

The moonlight cast a shadow on her jawline.

Her eyes sparkled and glittered.

Her back rose and fell at a steady breathing pace

She was so effortlessly beautiful at that moment.

"Tzuyu, I-"

"Hm?"

But I realized that I couldn't possibly be with her.

I would destroy her reputation, make her fans hate her, end her career, even.

"Nevermind, it's nothing," I said. I wasn't sure if there was a hint of regret in my voice or not.

"You're really tense of late, you know that?" She smiled. "Come, let's go back inside, maybe we can play some video games with Mina."

"Alright," I smiled back. "Let's go."

I opened the sliding glass door and let Tzuyu go in first, before turning around once more and looking to the sky.

Snowflakes had begun to fall.
