QOC: What's the scariest story you have to share?

•••
- Anna's POV -

Lyma finishes paying the person through the small box with a small smile before signing some paper saying she paid the fine. Then she signs the other two for Nico and Hayley, whom also had a two thousand dollar fine as a sentence.

It's a good thing this lady's a psychiatrist or we'd all be screwed financially.

I don't really feel guilty about her paying my punishment, regardless of the fact that I'm eighteen. Maybe this was the universe's way of giving her her punishment. It's not very moral-teaching, but it's something. Karma is better than no karma.

Besides, she should be lucky she doesn't have to hire some outrageously amazing but expensive lawyer to help get all three of us out of prison. Technically, if it was labeled a felony, we would all be doing time for at least six months. Luckily they were documented as misdemeanors because of our reasoning behind illegally entering a home.

Also, Lyma isn't even paying as much as she would if Aiden and Dakota had broken in as well. Instead, they were allowed inside by the home's caretaker, who then called emergency services.

Still, nerves have been broiling around us all. And by "all" I mean me, Lyma, Nico, Hayley, Ms. Sloan, and Lily. We're all awaiting for Aiden to get out of his trial, and we're also waiting for Dakota to get out of his (which is in a second courtroom nearby). They were supposed to be on separate days, but there's another case going on and they needed slots open for different times and days.

So now we have double the concern for both of them, and I don't think I can stand waiting much longer for them to get out. Because once investigators close this and take our word for the truth, then this will all be over and we'll be okay. Finally free to love and be happy.

"Okay," Lyma says through a sigh, looking stressed. "Now we go back to the hotel and wait."

I nod silently and we leave the federal building, meeting Hayley and Lily out in the car. Apparently Ms. Sloan is here, in a room by us. Hayley went to pick up Lily from her before we left to go pay fines because she didn't want to be with her mother just yet. She's not comfortable around her own mom yet, and it's pretty sad. But she'll warm up to her. And hopefully Ms. Sloan will warm up to me when I finally meet her in thirty one minutes and twelve seconds.

After reaching the hotel, we get to our room and set all of our things down. Lyma goes to the lobby, saying she'll get us some snacks and bottled water while we wait for our attorney to call us and say that the trials are over.

I glance at the clock. It's not for another two hours and forty minutes.

I sigh and curl up on the couch, chin on my knees. I just want Aiden here right now. I want Dakota out of this mess. I want all of us to go home and live a normal life. I just want to be like everyone else, but in my own special way.

I feel like crud without either of them here, but I admit that my mind mostly wanders around Aiden. I just wish I had that tingly sensation right now instead of this gaping hole in my heart. The best feeling I get is when I'm looking at my soulmate and find that he's already smiling at me.

And when I look to the left on the empty part of the couch to see if he's there, the cold air meets me. He isn't smiling at me, let alone sitting there at all. I don't want this feeling to last, this feeling of void and vanish. I miss him.
