Just us now - Reylo Fanfiction

Rey's POV

"We need to find a way to test this bond," Kylo says as he stands up and starts to pace across the grass.

"Any suggestions?" I ask as I stand up to join him.

"What we know so far is that it's triggered when we are thinking about each other right? And that it can happen when we are both awake and asleep" he says. "What about distance though?"

"Yeah it worked today when you were away" I reply.

"That was only miles. I mean real distance. Like if we are on different planets or light years away from each other" he answers as he stops pacing to think about this.

I look away from him so he doesn't see the sadness on my face at the thought of us being that far apart.

"Ok, I have a plan" he says as he grabs my arm and spins me round to face him. "I'll take the ship and fly to the other side of the planet and you stay here and we can try and connect".

"You're going to leave me here alone?" I ask with a smirk. "But I'm your prisoner remember?"

"I'll be back" he smiles. "And I told you before, I trust you," he says as he leans down and place a soft kiss on my forehead.

Kylo Ren's POV

I leave Rey standing next to the stream and I run back to the ship. I set the course for the other side of the planet and take off. The only thing I can think of right now is how much I hope more than anything that this works. I know Rey and I will be separated soon, that is unavoidable, but if we can connect through this bond then it just might make the thought of that more bearable.

It doesn't take long to reach my destination. I quickly leave the ship and make my way outside. I sit down on the grass with my legs crossed and take a few deep breaths to ready myself. A lot depends on this. It needs to work. I need this to work.

I close my eyes and picture Rey in my mind and her image appears making me smile. I concentrate on her face as I feel the energy around me start to shift. My eyes are still closed when I hear Rey's voice say, "It worked Kylo. Open your eyes".

Rey's POV

Kylo slowly opens his eyes to find himself sitting across from me. The look of shock on his face when he realises that he has somehow travelled through the bond makes me burst out laughing.

"Can you believe this?" he asks.

I smile as I watch him look around in wonder before his eyes settle on me. He smiles back making my whole body flood with warmth. He reaches down and plucks one of the flowers from the grass and holds it out to me. I feel my cheeks blush as I reach over to take the flower and our fingers brush against each other. The moment we touch makes us both jump. It was like an electric shock sent through every cell in my body and I watch as the flower slowly falls to the ground.

"Wow. Did you feel that?" I ask him.

"Yes" he answers as he reaches out again.

I reach out to him and take his hand in mine. The feeling of power that surges through me is beyond anything I could ever have imagined. I don't ever want to let him go.

Kylo Ren's POV

Every fibre of my being right now is focused on Rey. The energy, power and emotions passing between us are indescribable. It is very clear now that The Force has brought us together, brought us to this point were we can no longer deny that our destinies are intertwined.

I drop all the barriers that have been closing my mind off and allow her to see whatever she wants. I feel her do the same and our thoughts are now passing to each other freely. Fears and secrets brought out into the open for the other to see no longer any reason for them to be hidden.

I push my most recent thought to her, as I need her to know the undeniable truth. 'There is nothing or no-one that could ever make me hurt you and I will protect you till the day I die'.

A single tear rolls down her cheek and she lets me know she feels the exact same.

I speak now as I have a moment of clarity. "I always thought that I was broken...... but now I know I was never broken. It was just that a piece of me was missing and that piece is you".

We sit together in silence enjoying the closeness and energy between us unsure of how long the connection will last but savouring every moment. Then a familiar sound breaks the silence and we both look up to the sky. A First Order ship is approaching fast. "It's Hux" I say. We turn to look at each other fear in our eyes. I shout for Rey to run and hide but the connection has already broken and I'm back next to my ship, alone at the other side of the planet.
