Mothwing x Leafpool

"Come on, Jayfeather! We have to leave now!" Leafpool called to Jayfeather. In response, he simply grumbled. Leafpool bounded out of her den and headed towards the camp exit.

"Goodbye, Leafpool and Jayfeather! Have a safe trip!" Firestar shouted out to the two medicine cats.

"Bye, Firestar!" Leafpool replied back as she exited the camp. Leafpool and Jayfeather headed in the direction of the Moonpool, and for the entire time, Leafpool couldn't stop thinking about Mothwing.

When Leafpool and Jayfeather finally arrived at the Moonpool, Mothwing and Willowshine were already there waiting for them.

"Hey Mothwing!" Leafpool meowed smiling. Leafpool looked back at Jayfeather, who was having a conversation with Willowshine.

"Long time no see." Mothwing joked.

"Yeah..." Leafpool mumbled. It was silent for a few seconds. A snowflake fell on to Leafpool's nose and she shivered. Leafbare is coming soon, Leafpool thought. Her short fur wouldn't help in this situation. A cold breeze ruffled Leafpool's fur and she shivered again and let out a tiny whimper. Mothwing looked over at Leafpool with concern in her eyes. Mothwing could see Leafpool with her tail wrapped around her white paws, as she was shivering with her eyes closed. She didn't like to see Leafpool in distress like that. Mothwing drew in a little closer and wrapped her fluffy tail around Leafpool. Leafpool opened her eyes and looked up at Mothwing.

"You seemed a little cold." Mothwing whispered. Leafpool smiled and leaned on to Mothwing, burying herself in to Mothwing's fur. They remained like this until the rest of the medicine cats arrived. Once the rest of the medicine cats arrived, everyone headed inside to the Moonpool. Once they arrived at the base of the water, everyone started to take a drink, except for Mothwing who stayed at the side. Leafpool crouched down to take a drink, but Mothwing stopped her.

"Leafpool! Wait!" Mothwing whispered. Leafpool looked up and blinked in surprise. Leafpool walked over to where Mothwing was sitting and sat down beside her.

"I've been waiting for time in which you and I are alone. I—I have to tell you something, Leafpool." Mothwing meowed quietly.

"What is it, Mothwing? You can tell me anything." Leafpool replied. Mothwing looked down at the ground and took a deep breath.

"Leafpool, I... I like you... I—I love you. Mothwing meowed as she looked up, waiting for Leafpool to respond. Leafpool felt a smile creeping upon her face. She stared in to Mothwing beautiful amber eyes.

"I feel the same for you, Mothwing. I've... I've always loved you." Leafpool meowed to Mothwing. Mothwing smiled and got closer to Leafpool. The two she-cats pressed against each other, and their tails intertwined. Mothwing licked Leafpool's cheek.

"I love you so much." Mothwing whispered. Leafpool licked Mothwing's cheek back.

"I love you too." Leafpool whispered in response. After a few seconds, Mothwing sighed.

"This—this isn't right. We're both she-cats." Mothwing sadly meowed. Leafpool stared up at Mothwing.

"Who says this isn't right?" Leafpool asked.

"Well, everyone else who has a mate has one of the opposite gender. It's always been a tom and a she-cat. Never a she-cat and a she-cat..." Mothwing meowed quietly.

"And..." Mothwing began. Leafpool could see pain flood Mothwing's eyes.

"Hawkfrost would never accept the fact that I liked she-cats. He would always yell at me and tell me how I was was supposed to like toms. He always just... Hated me so much. I—I..." Mothwing trailed off. Leafpool could see tears forming in the corners of Mothwing's eyes.

"Hey, Mothwing, It's okay. Nobody else thinks that. Hawkfrost was... Different. He never really liked any cat." Leafpool meowed in a comforting tone. Mothwing exhaled and closed her eyes. The tears she was holding back dripped down her face and fell on to the stone below.

"But... How do we know if this is acceptable?" Mothwing asked Leafpool. Leafpool sat in silence for a moment, until she looked over at the Moonpool.

"I think I know how." Leafpool stated. Leafpool padded over to the Moonpool and looked in to the water as her reflection stared back at her. She crouched down and felt the cold water touch her nose as she took a drink. Leafpool laid down and started to drift to sleep.

Leafpool awoke in a forest. It was night, and there were more stars out than she had ever seen. I'm in Starclan, Leafpool thought. Leafpool heard a rustling noise to her left.

"Hello, Leafpool."
