"I didn't know. I didn't tell Peter that we were going to hang out." Michelle answered placidly. "They stole our idea."

Y/N smiled faintly at the statement as she studied Peter up ahead with Ned. He was dressed nicely, she thought: a blue button-up polo shirt with black pants tucked into lace-up boots. Perhaps he was going to go out for dinner with Aunt May. Perhaps he just felt good and decided to be all spiffy. But he looked great.

Michelle was a lucky girl. Y/N wished that she was in her friend's place instead. But Peter had asked Michelle, so she couldn't do anything about it.

"Hello!" Ned exclaimed, waving excitedly. Y/N and Michelle waved back. Peter just smiled next to him.

They all formed a group of four and walked along the New York streets, chatting. Peter seemed a little better than the past few days. He was even humming something that sounded familiar. If she listened close enough, he was mumbling the words to Shape of You.

Her heart skipped a beat. Surely it was a coincidence. After all, it was a nice song.

"Oh, ice cream," Ned said dreamily as he stared at the cone in her hand. "Peter, we should've gotten some."

"I suppose." Peter laughed slightly. Oh, how she had missed that adorable laugh. Had God decided to send an angel down to her? That's what Peter was, in a small way.

Michelle yelped for a moment and yanked out her phone. Ned did the same, and they both stared glumly at their phones.

"Sorry, Y/N, but I have to go," Michelle said morosely. "It's nice spending time with my friends, even if it was only for an hour."

"It's fine," Y/N hastened to tell her. "It was nice spending time with you after school. Thanks."

"I have to leave too." Ned groaned. Peter groaned too. "See you, Peter. I have to get home."

"Bye, MJ." Y/N waved her friend off. Michelle and Ned nodded before walking off together. That left Y/N and Peter standing together on the sidewalk. Peter seemed to be lost , though.

"Come on now, follow my lead, I may be crazy, but don't mind me. Say, boy, let's not talk too much, grab on my waist and put that body on me, come on now, follow my lead. Come, come on now, follow my lead." He was muttering under his breath. He was startled when Y/N spoke.

"I'm in love with the shape of you, we push and pull like a magnet do. Although my heart is falling too, I'm in love with your body." She spoke lowly. Peter kept his eyes on her, looking like he was thinking about something.

"Hm." Peter muttered, and Y/N wondered if she did something wrong. He suddenly smiled. "Do you know this song?"

"What song?"

"Oh, we're a thousand miles from comfort-"

"We have traveled land and sea, but as long as you are with me-"

"There's no place I'd rather be."

Both of them grinned at each other in a sheepish way. Peter had a nice voice, she thought. He was too good. He was too good for this world.

Peter swung around a lamp post, laughing. He put a hand to his chest and started gesturing wildly with his hands as he sang. "I would wait forever, exalted in the scene. As long as I am with you, my heart continues to beat."

Y/N grinned at him, and he gave a short laugh in response as he twirled around the pole. He was being adorable again, but when was he not?

"With every step we take, Kyoto to the bay, strolling so casually. We're different and the same, gave you another name, switch up the batteries." Peter's cheer was infectious, since Y/N couldn't stop smiling.

He swung around again and grabbed her hand with a charming little smile. Ah, her Peter Parker- the boy with heavy amounts of intelligence and curiosity, the boy with a beautiful smile and laugh, the boy with shirts that said Lettuce, the Taste of Sadness on them plus this nice blue shirt, and the boy she loved so dearly.

"I'm starting to think Ned and Michelle leaving was good for us." Peter muttered to her almost inaudibly. "If you gave me a chance I would take it, it's a shot in the dark, but I'll make it. Know with all of your heart you can't shame me; when I am with you, there's no place I'd rather be."

---

Ned and Michelle peeked around a corner to watch Y/N and Peter run off down the sidewalk together. Peter was singing- a truly rare moment- and twirling Y/N around as she laughed in joy.

"God, FINALLY." Michelle huffed. "They're SMILING together."

Ned nodded. "There is no better sight."
