And Then You Left

DANIEL'S POV:

He turned the key and opened the door. Everybody jumped out their places as soon as they stepped inside. "SURPRISE!" we shouted and then girls walked inside with the cake in their hand.

"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday too you, happy birthday Chase, happy birthday to you!!!" we sang together. Chase was beyond shocked with a hint of smile on his face. He turned to face Julie who was giggling. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" Julie said and so Chase hugged her.

Before the moment could pass we took their picture and then girls put the cake on the table. Chase came beside with at least 20 people following him and blew up the candles. And then there were hugs, greetings...

At last he reached beside me and Emily. "Happy birthday dude!" I said and hugged him patting his back. After Emily greeted and hugged him too he was done. It was time for the party to start.

3 HOURS LATER, 9 O'CLOCK...

EMILY'S POV:

Escaping from all that music, crowd and everything I found myself in the kitchen. Finally a bit silence. I had been dancing for what seemed like forever. My head was throbbing both because of the music and alcohol. Sitting on the bar stool I took my head between my hands and closed my eyes tightly. Trying to defuse the pain.

Suddenly a pair of arms made their ways around my waist and thanks to the smell I realized who it was. He put his head in the crook of my neck and kissed me there. "You OK?" he whispered, I could feel his lips touching my ear. I shook my head and said "I have a terrible headache and I'm tired."

He turned the stool around so that I was now facing him. I rested my head on his chest trying to relax a bit. He took my face in both hands and made me face his eyes. For a second I thought he'd kiss me but instead he pressed his lips on my forehead and stood there like that. His arms loosened up a bit around me and he started moving his hand up and down on my back.

He was trying to relax me and make me feel better. "I know you are. But you've been so so helpful today, without you this party wouldn't be this wonderful." I took my hands up to his neck and hugged him. I even didn't have enough strength to talk.

"Let's go back inside you don't need to move too much. We can just sit down together. Chase'll look after the guests" He was whispering all the time and I was glad he did.

Kissing me softly on my lips and not going too far he picked me up off the stool and taking my hand led me inside.

DANIEL'S POV:

As we walked inside I made my way towards Dean and Jack to tell them to cut off the music. I had a brilliant idea to make people keep some silence so that Emily could relax. "Hey everyone! Why don't we open up the presents before we get more drunk? If we wait a little longer I doubt that we'll remember what we bought..."I shouted to the crowd and everybody agreed.

So we all gathered around the table and Chase opened the presents. There were all kinds of things: t-shirts, shirts, wallets, CDs, wii games, playstation games, movies, books. I had bought him a new watch as I knew that his own was broken.

Emily had bought him a sweatshirt and a bracelet just in the style he'd love. As for Julie...she had bought him tons of music CDs, DVDs and a box full of different types of plectrums for his guitar.

Chase seemed to love that present the much. They hugged for a long, long while. Finally after 15 minutes all the gift giving ceremony was done. Just as we were about to turn up the music again Chase spoke up.

"Can I have your attention? Well if you let me, I'd like to give myself a birthday present as well..." Everybody started whispering and chatting. I wondered what was he doing.

He suddenly took Julie's hands and said "I know it's a kind of rush but...Julie will you be my girlfriend?"

And then...there was a great silence until some girls said "Awww!!!" Julie was beyond surprised, she was shocked! Some girls were chatting, sure they were jealous.

"I-I-I...YES!" Julie said and all of a sudden Chase kissed her fully on the lips. Even Julie didn't see that coming. Emily was fast she took their picture.

Chase didn't let Julie go for a long time until they both were in need of air. And then they hugged. I gave a signal to Dean for him to put up a slow song.

CHASE'S POV:

"You are the best gift life could give me..." I whispered to Julie's ear as we were dancing to the slow music. You know what? I'm not lying this time. I'm not trying to use her over anything. Actually I'm feeling something for a girl for the first time.

She's different I know it. I understood it the very first day I saw her. She's different in every way. Cute, sweet, caring and everything I can ever wish for.

She blushed to my compliment and smiled. She couldn't even look at my eyes, God so sweet! "Wanna go to my room for a while?" I whispered to her ear again.

She looked at me with confused eyes and scared. "No, no you get me wrong. I just wanna talk, nothing else." I said. For the first time in my life I was afraid of hurting a girl. I was afraid of...losing her.

EMILY'S POV:

We were dancing to the slow music with Daniel. My head was on his chest, standing as close as I could to him. At the same time I was watching Julie and Chase. They started walking to the corridor and got inside Chase's room.

"Umm...Daniel where did they go?" I asked with a concerned voice. I knew Chase was a complete man-whore. Making out or sleeping with another girl every night and I was afraid for my friend.

"Don't worry. He won't do anything I'm sure. Julie's different for him I know it. And who knows maybe she fixes him?" he whispered to my ear. "Relax! Nothing'll happen..." he whispered again when I didn't answer.
