Your Point of View.
"SHIT!" I stop the car in the middle of the lane and race out towards him.
A red Suburu comes speeding down the lane Jason's standing in. The car slams its breaks and makes a loud screeching noise, but it's not enough to stop the car.
My heart pounding in my chest, I leap across the road, collect Jason and land on the strip of grass with him underneath me. The car misses us by a few inches.
"WHAT THE FUCK JASON! WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING?" I scream.
"YOU CAN'T SAVE ME! STOP TRYING TO SAVE ME!" He yells trying to get up.
I pin his arms to the ground.
"LET GO OF ME!"
"NO! JASON PLEASE. LET ME-"
"YOU CAN'T FUCKING HELP ME! GET THAT THROUGH YOUR HEAD! I'M BROKEN. I'M ALREADY DEAD!"
He's heaving heavily, desperately trying to get me off him.
"What have they done to you?" My eyes bore into his, searching for something, anything that shows signs of vulnerability and hurt.
He stops trying to brake from my grip. He's breathing slows down. His muscles retract and his body goes limp. He closes his eyes.
Jason's Point of View.
"What have they done to you?"
Every memory comes flooding back.
"Too much."
I feel her body rest upon mine. Her arms wrap around my waist, her head in my chest.
I nuzzle my face into her hair and take in the sweet scent, savouring every moment. The warm feeling in my chest I've been getting lately comes back.
I don't understand. I don't understand why she cares. Why would she risk her life to save me? I'm worthless and a disgrace. She could've died, I hate that thought.
I snake my arms around her, pulling her closer.
"I'm sorry." I apologise. "I'm sorry for dragging you into this."
"You don't have anything to be sorry about. You're not dragging me into anything, if I didn't want to be here I wouldn't be here."
A rush fills my body from her words, an indescribable feeling I've never felt before.
"Can we go back to my apartment?" She asks.
"I'd like that."
She shifts off my chest and stands up. She puts out her hand for me to take it, I take it and help myself up. I go to walk towards the car when a pair of arms swaddle me from behind.
"Please don't ever do that again. You really scared me." (y/n) confesses.
"I won't."
"No, promise me."
I don't know if I can. I take her arms in mine.
"(y/n)." I sigh.
"Please promise." The desperateness evident in her voice and eyes.
"I promise."
She lets go of a breath and once again envelops her arms around me.
I don't know if I mean it, but I feel the need to lie to her about it.
"Okay, lets go." She says, taking my hand and leading me to the car.
Luckily the road isn't that busy, so no one saw what happened. The red car never pulled over, not even to check everything was okay. It's interesting how many people ignore problems. Just run away instead of helping because it's easier. I thought all people were like that, I guess not.
We reach the car. She gets in her side, I get in mine. She switches on the ignition and makes a U turn to head back.
As we drive, the shadows of the tree's dance in unique patterns across the fabric of the car. I glance outside the window. House by house we pass. The houses have almost identical exterior designs. Each house with small variation to the others. There's alway's something that makes me curious about these houses. What people live in them? What is their story? Are they just like everyone else? What skeletons are hiding in their closets? Nothing's ever how it seems. Nothing's ever perfect. These people live in the same kind of houses to be like everyone else, to cover up their originality.
I exhale a long breath I've been holding.
"I live at HQ."
"W-what?" She asks confused.
"I live at HQ."
"How come?"
"Because I don't want to live in a big fancy empty house that reminds me of how alone I am."
She takes in what I'm saying.
"Well, do you want to come live with me for a while?" She offers.
"Why?"
"I mean, I don't have anyone staying and I wouldn't mind the company."
I don't really want to stay with her. But at the same time I do.
"I wouldn't want to intrude."
"You wouldn't be."
I look for other excuses.
"And besides, HQ is very unhygienic and you'd be breathing in the chemical constantly and that's not good for you." She adds.
"I uh, I don't know."
"Come on, just trial it. If it doesn't work you can just go back to HQ."
"I uh, I guess."
"Great." She pulls into the driveway.
How'd I get into this situation? I'm not easy to live with.
