It had been almost a week since I had started at my new school. It was just like every other school I had ever been to. Boring and ordinary. Nothing exciting ever happened, all the students were the same. They all came from fairly wealthy family's unlike mine. I still didn't have any friends but I wasn't surprised. I had trouble making friends at my old school and I was there for almost 3 years.
The bell rung loudly through out the hallways announcing the start of a new class. I was headed to music, my personal favourite. As I settled in my seat towards the back of the class I noticed a new student walk in. At least I think he was new or maybe I just hadn't noticed him before. But he stood out to me. Maybe it was his rich blond hair or his gold rimmed glasses, whatever it was I couldn't help but be attracted to him. I couldn't take my eyes off of him as he took an empty seat, not far from my own. As he sat down he glanced in my direction and I quickly looked away, although I'm sure he caught me staring.
Once all the students were in their seats the teacher began the lesson. He pressed play on the boom box that sat on his desk in the front of the class and a pop song I had never heard before started to play. All the students began to clap along to the beat, two students even got up and danced in front of the classes but when I looked over at the new boy he looked just as bored as I felt. After a little while the teacher turned off the the song and played another one, one that I actually recognized. It was Beethoven, I only recognized it because my parents would sometime play it around the house. Now everyone else in the class looked bored but the new kid seemed more interested.
When teacher paused the music he asked the class, "can anyone tell me the difference between these two pieces?" A girl sitting towards the front of the classroom spoke up, "well one is pop and the other is classical," The teacher shook his head as the class started to laugh "well at least we know you're not deaf, anyone else?"
"You can't dance to Beethoven," I called out and I heard an echo. I looked over to the new boy and he had said the exact same thing. "Very good you two," the teacher said as he began explain why you can't dance to Beethoven. The new kid looked over at me and smirked. I smiled and looked down at my desk as I felt my cheeks heat up.
As the class was coming to an end the teacher began explaining our homework which happened to require us to be in pairs. I hated working in pairs but it was even worse when I couldn't decide who I worked with. I was only half listening as the teacher called out the pairs. I only looked up when I heard my name and my partners. As if I got partnered with the new kid, what are the odds of that. I really didn't mind working with him, he seemed to know about music and it gave me a reason to see his face more.
He caught up with me in the hallway to schedule when we should work on the project and he was even more dreamy up close. "It's probably better if you work on it at your place, my family is a little odd," he explained as scratched the back of his neck. "Yeah, okay that's fine..." I said "Micheal," he replied as we both realised we didn't know each other's names. "Okay well give me a call," I smiled handing him a slip of paper with my number on it. "Will do..." he looked down at the piece of paper "...y/n,"
Just then the bell rung signalling that we should be getting to class. "See ya," I smiled "Bye," he smiled as we parted ways to head to our next classes.
