The New Queen of Ambia

I look at myself in the mirror of my old bedroom. I look like myself but I don't. I've changed a lot since I've been gone. I've become more independent, stronger, and smarter. The person in the mirror just looks like a shadow of who I used to be. A shadow.

Everything seems to remind me of Peter. Like the ball room I'll be spending hours at later tonight and the garden I'll probably be hiding at. Being queen used to be something I wanted for myself but now it's something I only want fro the safety of my friends. I wouldn't be getting ready for a coronation right now if I had a choice not to.

I look at myself in the mirror again. The black dress reminds me of a funeral. My hair is done up showing my face. Again, I look like myself but I don't.

"You look beautiful" Mary says

"You look beautiful" Mary says. I remember her from the night I left. She helped me get ready for the ball that ended up changing my life forever. Now my life is changing again and I can't decide if it's for better or for worse.

"Thank you, Mary." I say smoothing out my dress without looking away from the mirror. I don't think I've ever studied my appearance as much as I am now. I look like royalty but I don't feel like it.

"Are you ready?" She asked. I turn to face her. She gives me a sad smile. "You fell in love didn't you? Don't worry, I happen to know you fall in love more than once." I return a sad smile but I choose not to answer her question.

"I'm ready." I tell her. She nods before leading me to the throne room. There are two guards at the doors. They bow before opening both doors to the throne room. Once inside I see what looks like hundreds of people and my uncle standing by the throne.

I hear trumpets as I walk towards him. Finally we're standing face to face. He smiles at me before he speaks.

"Y/N Y/L/N, my niece and future queen, do you accept the responsibilities of being Queen of Ambia?"

"I do."

"Do you promise to rule this kingdom with strength and dignity even in the darkest of times?"

"I do."

""Do you promise to rule this kingdom with faith and a steady hand?"

"I do."

"People of Ambia, I give you Queen Y/N Y/L/N. The New Queen of Ambia!"  I hear an applause that slightly sickens me. I don't deserve this because I may be queen but I know who is really the ruler of Ambia. It's not me.

My uncle places the crown on my head and I want to just run out of her. I can't. I have to keep in mind who I'm doing this for. I'm doing this for Bailey, the voice of reason in my life. Thomas, the one who knows how to make even Felix laugh. Felix, who may be quiet but a faithful friend. For James, who continued to be my friend even when I was in love with someone else. I'm doing this for Peter, My true love.  My uncle leans down and whispers in my ear.

"Congratulation, my queen." I give him a fake smile that he doesn't seem to notice. I walk down to the ball room where everyone else seems to be headed. Before I get to the ballroom, I sneak off to the garden where I sort of first met Peter. It still looks exactly the same. I look up at the sky where I can see hundreds of stars. There is one star in particular that I seem more interested in than the others. I wish Peter was with me.

"Y/N?" I hear. I quickly stand up and smooth out my dress before turning to see who it is.

"Yes?" I say with my head held high. "Peter?" I say a little too loudly. Peter is here wearing the same thing he wore last time we were here together.

"What are you doing here?" He asks. He sounds mad and looks it too. I guess there is no better time to explain it to him.

"Peter, I'm doing this for you and our friends. I don't have a choice. I don't want you guys to get hurt." His gaze softens before he quickly walks to me to brush away a tear I didn't know was there. I turn my head so that he wouldn't be touching me.

"She told you some things about me didn't she?"

"Yes."

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you."

"Why didn't you?"

"I thought that you wouldn't love me."

"Peter I thought we talked about this. I love you. Love just doesn't go away just like that. It just took some time for me to realize that and nothing will stop me from remembering that. I love you and there is nothing I or anyone could do to change that."

"Not even Fiona?" He asks. I don't really like hearing her name but yes.

"Not even her." I assure him. He smiles at me and for the first time since this chaos started I returned a genuine smile.

"I love you." He says. I love hearing him say that.

"I love you too." I tell him causing him to smile even more.

"Dance with me?"

"I'd love to."

For the rest of the night we dance our hearts out. As he spins me around I feel like I've never been happier.  That is until I get a feeling that The black Fairy is going to call.

"Peter, you should go." I say as we sit in my room. I'm sitting on my bed while he looks around my room

"I know." he says as he looks at all the books I have. I get up and hug him before he leaves. It's not until a few seconds after he's gone that I hear The Black Fairy's voice from the necklace.

"Y/N." I hear her call.

"Yes, I'm here." I say looking into the mirror.

"Are you ready to give me what I want?"

"Not really but I will." I say.

"I want you to find the savior."
