A week later
Perspective of Jamie

The bright white light coming from above Jamie was enough to make him want to shut his eyes and never open them again, it was blinding on a level that he had never even experienced before.

"Oh my sweet lord." Jamie groaned as he held his head and slowly sat up.

All he knew is that he had a splitting headache and his arm throbbed furiously. He remembered the apartment and the house, the horrific escape that he and Alfie had to make to get away from the infected horde. It brought a shiver to his spine and made him twitch, he'd never been so scared like that before, being chased and being immobile at the same time.

One thing that did feel better however is that he was no longer hungry, his stomach for the first time in a while felt full, which was the best thing he'd ever felt without a doubt. He used to take being full up on food for granted, not anymore, no chance in hell of that happening.

"How's your sweet arse doing then, babe?" He heard a voice ask next to him.

"Alfie..?" Jamie asked, unsure of who it was.

"That's the one, mate."

"Fuckin hell you're alive, dude. Holy shit I'm surprise I am as well." Jamie spoke.

"Yeah, we're at the university." Alfie informed him.

"Fuck me, really?"

"Yeah, we got here a week ago, that's how long you've been out for." Alfie said, lightly punching his shoulder.

Jamie leaned back into his bed, groaning with effort.

"Fuuuuuck..."

"I'll be outside mate, get yourself ready then I'll show you around." Alfie said, getting up and leaving.

Jamie sat and watched as Alfie got up and left the room, shutting the door quietly on his way out.  He watched through the translucent glass as Alfie perched himself up against the wall opposite the what a looked like a clinic that Jamie was in.

"Guess it gotta get up now." Jamie groaned.

Jamie lightly swung his body and put his feet off the bed, taking a deep breath and putting some of his weight onto them.  They shook a little at first, clearly not used to being walked on and he swayed a little, having the grab ahold of the desk next to his bed for support.

He only just noticed that there were others in the room with him, a few on beds and a few dressed in white which Jamie assumed were either nurses or doctors, or both.

"Hello, Jamie.  How are you feeling?" A female voice said from just ahead of him.

He swivelled his head and saw a young girl, maybe 15 or 16 dressed in a blue and white uniform of a nurse stood in front of him.

"Good, love, I'm feeling good.  Cheers." Jamie replied, giving the girl a smile.

"Your new clothes will be in your apartment, your friend will show you where that is." The girl said before quickly hurrying off.

'Right' Jamie thought.

Making his slow but steady way to the door, Jamie leaned into it to make it open, lacking the strength to do so just by pushing with his hand.

"Hello, bud." Alfie said. "I'll take you to everyone else."

About 15 minutes later
Perspective of Malik

The canteen was maybe the most pristine looking place Malik thought he had ever seen. It was clearly thoroughly cleaned on the regular as every time you stepped in it felt like you were ascending into heaven. It was large, being on one end Malik imagined that you wouldn't even be able to see the other side, rows of budget dining tables were in the room, split apart by little walkways in between. It reminded him of Hogwarts but the tables were plastic.
