Class Zero

Jinyi stands in front of a giant wooden desk, with another slightly familiar girl beside her. They wait for the Archsorceress, Kim Inseon, to finish looking through the papers in her hands. She stands behind the desk, leaning a hip against the clean surface. Her gorgeous profile radiates authority and confidence. Things that Jinyi wishes to be in the future after she graduates Akademeia.

The girl beside Jinyi shuffles her feet, tugging nervously at her purple cape. Jinyi knows that her name is Jino, but she doesn't really know anything else about her. Only that she is from the third class, because of the color of her cape. Jinyi thinks Jino's in a year above her's though, because she's never seen Jino during the health exams. Jinyi is in her first year, so she definitely knows that Jino isn't younger than her.

Inseon clears her throat, drawing the attention of the two girls to herself. "So you two were able to summon your weapons during the attack of the Milites Empire?"

"Yes ma'am," Jinyi and Jino answer in unison. Wait, Jino was also able to summon her weapon? Jinyi glances with curiosity to the older girl, who is obediently staring at the Archsorceress. Or is that determination in her eyes?

"What do you girls know about class zero?"

Jinyi has to hold back a gasp, her hands clasping together in front of her. Class zero is the most elite class of cadets. They are almost like a myth here at Akademia. Back when the Dominion of Rubrum was at war against the Milites Empire many years ago, class zero were the ones to sneak into the Milites Empire and defeat the White Tiger l'Cie.

"Ma'am, are you saying that class zero still exists?" Jino asks back. She crosses her arms and leans her weight onto mostly one leg. Jinyi's eyes widen at the disrespect the older girl is showing the Archsorceress. The nervousness she showed in the beginning must've just been restlessness, because Jino shows no weakness in her stare towards Inseon.

Inseon sets down the papers on her desk, taking off her half circle glasses. "Class zero has always existed."

"What?" The soft word is out of Jinyi's mouth before she can stop it.

"I'd like to make it more known, and you two show hidden potential that could be useful."

"So you want us to join this class?" Jino talks back again. Jinyi is scared that the Archsorceress is going to punish the older girl if she keeps disrespecting her.

"I don't want you to join the class. You two are going to join the class," Inseon quips back with the same sass that Jino gave her.

"Ma'am?" Jinyi says, shocked.

"You two will move to the dorms on the fifth floor. You will share the room 507. Red capes will be mailed to you shortly. Start attending the class once you receive them. Until then, you two are allowed a short break," Inseon speaks with authority.

"Excuse me? I never agreed-" Jino starts, but the Archsorceress cuts off her words.

"If you disobey my commands, then I will have a word with the Chancellor, Park Jino."

The Chancellor? The head of Akademia? Why would...

Jino goes silent and slightly pales. Her dark eyes flicker down to the ground as her auburn hair falls around her face.

"Now, do you two have anymore questions?"

"No," Jino says at the same time Jinyi says, "yes ma'am."

"What is your question, Jinyi?"

"Who will be our commanding officer now?" Jinyi asks. The commanding officer is basically like the teacher of the class. Jinyi will dearly miss her old commanding officer. He was such a cute old man.

"I cannot say at the moment. Class zero just lost their commanding officer, so we will be assigning a new one soon."

They lost their commanding officer? Does that mean he died, or that he was fired?

"Now, if you two don't have anymore question, hurry up to your room."

The walk out of the Archsorceresses office to the main hall is quiet. Jinyi doesn't want to say anything to upset the older girl more, since she is a little intimidating. Other students they pass watch them, as if news had already gotten around. But maybe it's because there's rumors about them too.

Jinyi doesn't know, she's normally not up to date with the rumors that go around the school. She wasn't really close to her classmates in the fourth class. They rejected her everytime she tried to get closer, but she didn't understand why. Jinyi knew she was cute, with her clear skin, curly black hair, and long eyelashes that framed her big green eyes.

"Jinyi, right?" Jino asks, breaking Jinyi out of her thoughts.

"Hmm? Oh, yea. Son Jinyi," Jinyi offers with a hesitant smile. Surprisingly, Jino smiles back.

"Let's get along. I'm Park Jino, a year three."

She wants to get along with Jinyi? Jinyi's smile grows wider with a promise of maybe a new friend.

"I'm a year one," Jinyi answers back. Perhaps Jinyi won't be completely lonely during this school year.

Jinyi spins in front of the large mirror in their shared room, watching the crisp new cape flow behind her as her red and black plaid skirt swirls around her thighs. Her school outfit was all put together, and her smile was bright upon her lips.

"I don't know what's so exciting about class zero. Probably a bunch of spoiled brats that paid their way into it," Jino complains as she adjusts her own uniform.

"I'm just trying to have a good attitude," Jinyi explains as she sticks her tongue out at the older girl. Jino rolls her eyes, but can't hold back her own smile. Jinyi's cheerfulness must've rubbed off on her during the last week they spent together.

Holding back a giggle, Jinyi thinks back to when they road chocobos together on the first day. The older girl is less confident on the back of a giant bird.

"We should go now. Class starts in ten minutes," Jinyi states.

"Yea yea. Go head over there first. I still need to clean up a bit." Jino heads to the bathroom with her makeup bag.

"Kay!" Jinyi leaves after slipping on her boots. Hopefully all goes well on this first day in class zero.

A/N : so, this isn't going to completely like Final Fantasy Type-0, but please don't hate me! I have my own plans for this story (kinda..). Most of the characters are going to be from various kpop groups (except the girls, since I don't know girl groups as well) so try guessing who is from which group!
