The next morning when Martin woke up he looked to his side and frowned to see the empty bed.
Negative drops of paranoia swirled around his mind and contaminated his thoughts;
He knows. He hates you. He left. You're ugly. You're dirty. You're tainted, sinful. He doesn't love you. He's left you for someone better.
Although there was no logical sense to this as there was no way he could know Martin couldn't stop the thoughts from attacking him. He just wanted to curl up and cry.
However he felt a small smile tug when he saw his boyfriend emerge with two cups of coffee, "ah you're awake" Dave smiled and brought Martin his drink.
Suddenly Martin felt so stupid for all his previous thoughts however he pushed them to the back of his mind and smiled back at his partner and spoke a quiet thank you for his coffee, his voice coming out low and deep as it being the first time he'd spoke that morning.
"God I love your sexy husky morning voice" Dave moaned and Martin felt his face burn and a shy smile painted his lips.
Dave just wanted to kiss Martin with so much passion but he knew he couldn't do instead he sat next to him on the bed and rapped his arm around Martin and he leaned into the touch.
"I love you so much" Martin mumbled into Dave's chest and Dave felt butterflies erupt in his stomach, the same ones that were there on his first date with Martin and the same ones that were there the first time he told him that he loved him. "I love you too Mart" Dave smiled.
The two sat quietly, snuggled in each other's arms while the hotel tv played some cheesy 80's music and they drank their coffees together.
In that moment Martin felt so safe and secure he wanted to just stay there forever. He felt loved and cared for despite the nagging voice in his head telling him that he didn't deserve the love he received, but he tried to ignore it and just enjoy the moment with his boyfriend.
"You said you needed new clothes, do you want to go out to town today?" Dave asked and as much as Martin didn't want to move from his lovers warm embrace he nodded and spoke a quiet "yeah" because he knew he had to change his look.
It wasn't long before he was overwhelmed with guilt as he remembered his lie he told and how he was going to have to follow through with it.
"I'm sorry" Martin mumbled and Dave turned his attention to Martin and looked down at him confused. "Why?" Dave asked.
"Just sorry for the inconvenience I mean I don't have any money do I, they took it" Martin mumbled and he felt so awful for lying to his partner he hated himself for doing so but he knew it was the lesser of two evils, lie or tell the truth and this was the better option.
"Martin" Dave chuckled lightly. "We ain't exactly poor it's fine I can cover it easily" Dave said smiling and Martin nodded, "yeah I know that I just still feel bad y'know" he shrugged.
"Well I love you and you deserve what makes you happy" Dave said making Martin blush.
Dave got up and went to shower but stopped partway on his way to the bathroom, "fuck, Mart!" Dave said causing a bit of panic to rise in Martins chest. "What?" Martin replied anxiously.
"You need to cancel your debit card." Dave said and Martin in a way felt a slight relief flood his body at the realisation that his fears hadn't come true however he also felt his eyes dart nervously, "oh god, yeah, um I'll call the bank while you're in the shower" Martin said and Dave nodded before leaving the room.
Martin sighed a sigh of relief as Dave left the room knowing his secret was still safe and waited for the bathroom to be free.
When Dave returned with just a towel around his waist Martin felt a blush burn at his cheeks and a smile paint his lips and he adverted his gaze slightly down, "I called the bank, they've cancelled the card" Martin spoke and Dave nodded "that's good at least they can't do any more damage" Dave said.
