He felt bad.

He felt bad pretty often, but never enough to apologize, never enough to not do it again.

"No."

Evan turned around.

I'm sorry.

"I uh, you don't have to go if you don't want."

"Really?" Connor nodded. "Uh, okay. Then."

Connor felt Evan fall back against the lockers next to him, and they stood in silence a few moments before he noticed something in Evan's hand.

"What's that," Connor said, grabbing the slightly crumpled paper from Evan's grasp without giving him a chance to respond.

"It's n-nothing it's-"

"I wish that everything was different. What do you mean by that?"

Evan looked horrified, grabbing the letter from his hand.

Connor glanced at him, seeing him hastily stuff the letter into his backpack.

"Why are you writing a letter to yourself?" Connor asked calmly, suspiciously.

"It's for a p-project. Some uh.. y-yeah... thing..." Evan managed to spit out.

"You're really bad at lying."

"You'd be surprised," Evan retorted.

Connor glanced at him, squinting his eyes. "What do you have to lie about?"

"You're so nosy," Evan said, rolling his eyes, turning to go.

"I wanna know what I got wrong," Connor said after Evan started walking away.

"If I'm gonna tell you who I am, you have to tell ne who are you," Evan mumbled, crossing his arms over his chest.

Connor didn't expect him to say that. Then again, he didn't except much from anyone at this point.

Connor was desperate for human interaction, no matter how much he denied it.

Could talking to someone really end that badly?

Yes, it probably could.

Correction, it definitely could.

But hell, what did Connor have to lose?

"Sure," He finally said, after a long bout of silence. "What do you want to know?"

Connor smirked as he saw Evan's eyes raise in surprise.

"I, uh. I m-mean. I d-don't know," he stuttered, clearly surprised at Connor's response.

"Good talk," Connor said, beginning to walk off.

3.. 2.. 1..

"Wait, where are you going?"

On the dot.

"I don't feel like going to school today," Connor said simply.

"But, you-you can't just.. uh.. what if I just came with you?" Evan suggested.

Connor cocked an eyebrow amusedly. "You? Ditch class? You really expect me to belie-"

Evan walked passed him and through the big double doors of the school, Connor trailing behind him in surprise.

"Oh. Okay," He muttered.

The two walked in silence out the school. A monitor noticed them and moved to stop them, but then noticed Connor and didn't bother.
