The bass made it feel like the entire building was shaking. Once the three entered the venue, Cas realized it wasn't much of a party, it was obviously a club.
"I was expecting more of, um, like a house party," she yells over the music to Josh and Hugh.
"This is the closest thing you will get to a house party in LA," Josh responds. "Let's go get some drinks and find Jeremy." Josh leads the two through the crowd to the bar.
"So, what's it like being Jeremy's sister?" Hugh asks.
"Eh, not much different than a normal sibling. I don't see him often but it would probably be like that if he wasn't an actor, too, ya know?" She shrugs, looking back at Hugh.
"He's a nice guy. Really cares about his friends. And so is Josh. He literally thinks of everyone before himself," Hugh adds. Cas smiles at the thought of Josh, absentmindedly blushing. Hugh notices and grins.
Once the trio makes their way to the bar, Josh orders the three of them a beer.
"Hold up," Cas says, glaring the bottle. "A beer isn't going to get me drunk." She asks the bartender for three tequila shots and a spiked seltzer. He slides the shot glasses over to her.
"You didn't have to get us shots, Cas," Josh says softly, feeling bad he wasn't able to pay.
"Um, these are all for me," she responds, downing her first shot. Then the second. And finishing her last. She washes them down with her cocktail and starts dancing to the music.
"I have never met a girl like her," Josh yells to Hugh, who responds with a nod and a laugh. Josh and Hugh grab their beers and trace their steps back to the area where they once were with Jeremy. They all place their drinks down on the tall table and people-watch the drunk party-goers around them.
"I love how this party is for us and I don't know a single person here," Hugh says to Josh. Josh widens his eyes and nods.
"I know right! Mate, I haven't even spoken to anyone here besides you guys," he responds.
"Wait, this party is for you guys? Is it your birthdays or something?" Cas butts in, pulling the glass from her lips and setting it back on the table.
"No, it's neither of our birthdays. It's like our last 'hoorah' before we leave for a few months to film abroad," Hugh explains. "Our friends are throwing it for us, but I haven't seen one familiar face."
"That's pretty cool. Where you guys going?"
"Somewhere in Greece, I believe?" Hugh glances at Josh, who answers his question with a nod as he finishes his beer.
"I'm going to go grab us another round. Two beers and another...spiked seltzer?" Josh points at Cassandra.
"You read my mind," she grins. Before he can walk away, she grabs his arm, "And tell them to spike it extra this time," she laughs.
"That didn't make sense but I'll try my best," he chuckles back. Cas turns to the table and makes eye contact with Hugh.
"I can't tell if you're blushing or if you're just getting drunk," he smirks at her.
"It's j-just because I'm drinking! It always happens," she exclaims, a soft whine in her voice as she covers her cheeks with her hands, clearly embarrassed.
"Yeah, okay. I'll just say it's a mix of both," he laughs.
"Don't be an ass, Hugh! I barely know him," she responds.
"Whatever," he chuckles under his breath and finishes his beer. Josh came back just in time with all the drinks.
"That was surprisingly quick," Cas raises her eyebrow at the boy.
"Well when there's a party being thrown in your honor, people tend to let you cut the lines and the bartenders work pretty quick...as if they had a choice," he responds, handing her the drink.
"You don't really seem like the type of guy to just fire someone like that," Cas mentions.
"You don't know me at all, then. If I ever catch an ounce of disrespect, they're gone," he swats his hand as he metaphorically pushes a person away. Cas shakes her head and grins.
"Alright, mister tough celebrity guy," the two laugh, but are abruptly interrupted by a pair of arms swinging over both their shoulders, almost causing the two to spit out their drinks.
"How are my three faaavorite people doing on this fine evening?" Those arms belong to Jeremy, and the smell of alcohol on his breath is so strong that it nearly intoxicates the people around him.
"Oh, God, Jeremy. You're drunk as shit!" Cas says, grabbing his pointer finger and sliding it off her shoulder.
"Whats it to ya? I'm having fun, Cassie!" He responds dancing to the music and massaging Josh's shoulders.
"Chill, mate," Josh chuckles, bending down to get out of Jeremy's grasp.
"You guys are no fun," Jeremy complains, pouting at the two.
"No, we're just not drunk enough," Cas responds. Josh looks at her and laughs.
"So, you two having fuuuun? Gettin' to know each other reeeeeeal well?" Jeremy says in a mocking tone.
"I guess you could say it like that," Josh takes a sip of his beer as Cas finishes her drink, really starting to feel the magic of alcohol in her veins.
"Ya know, you two, it's just crazy how the world works!" Jeremy exclaims. "Who would've thought that my sister would start working for my best friend only days after theyyy met!" He slurs, laughing as the words roll off his tongue. Josh now chokes on his drink, coughing a fit as Cas turns to look at her brother.
"What the hell did you say?" She glares, meeting eyes with him.
"Why are you acting like you don't know," Jeremy whines. "You're making me sound crazy!"
"Can you just pull yourselfff together for a couple of seconds, pleeeeeease! And explain whatever the hell you just said," Cas stumbles over her words, staring right at her brother, who starts giggling at her sloppiness.
"You guys must be the dumbest people on earth!" He yells up to the ceiling. "Josh is your new boss, Cassie! And mate, Cas is new your assistant!"
