Keyote Rouvreblanc was kidnapped from Rapid City, South Dakota, six years ago. Her Mother was raped and murdered by the same man who raped and abducted Keyote. Later to sale her to human traffickers in Florida. Her captors had forced Keyote to do child porn and prostitute herself when she became older.
Keyote celebrated her birthday last March among her family in San Francisco. Keyote had been rescued by a homeless couple who protected her until they could contact her family.
Keyote had been imprisoned from eight years old until she was fourteen, in a place called Casa Sombrio or 'Somber House'. For a short time she was free as she lived in a abandoned building with the homeless couple who hid her from her pimp. San Francisco felt like a prison of a different sort.
At the time that Keyote's Mother was murdered and Key was abducted Gay marriage wasn't possible. Keyote's Aunt Sophia was a lesbian. Her lover was Chinese. Keyote's sister Kiona called this woman 'Mama Mai'. Mai had adopted Kiona and the missing Keyote when their Mother died. It was the only way that Mai could obtain legal and medical information concerning the two children.
Key had celebrated her birthday in March at her Aunt Sophia's manufactured home made to resemble a log cabin. It was located on the Thornbrush Woglusna Lakota Indian Reservation in South Dakota. Situated in the isolated prairie land of the reservation. Key so loved the place that it was decided that Keyote would live there, instead of San Francisco.
Kiona and Mai had limited Key's movements in San Francisco. They seemed constantly afraid Keyote might be abducted again. Key told them that she felt smothered. As a result Key constantly broke their rules about leaving the their house in suburban San Francisco. Causing them to ground her, and she defied them in this as well. Key's resentment seemed to center on Mai who had been more or less a stranger to her.
Since Key had seemed happier at her Aunt Sophia's home, it was agreed that Key would return in April. After arrangements had been made.
Key's counseling would be taken over by the White Raven Women's Society. It was located in the reservation town of Chantry, about seventy miles from where Sophia lived. A hour and a half drive on Reservation roads.
Key had arrived at Chantry in a single prop plane with Kiona and Mai on April 5th. The airport was too small for a private jet. Mai owned the Chien Chang Company which was based in Taiwan. They could afford a private Jet to Rapid City and then rent a prop plane and pay a pilot to taxi them to the Chantry airport.
Keyote was met by her Aunt Sophia, Uncle Joseph Rouvreblanc, and another middle-aged woman whom was Harriet Red Deer of the White Raven Woman's Society. Harriet stepped forward and shook Keyote's hand. "My name is Harriet Red Deer. Welcome back to Thornbrush, Wikanjeza Okancu, we have arranged a reception at the White Raven Society especially for you." Harriet smiled. "To welcome you back to the Woglusna Lakota Tribe."
"Did you call me 'Wikanjeza Okancu'? Or was that a greeting?" Key struggled with the pronunciation. Key did not know the Woglusna Lakota language.
"It means lost child." Harriet explained.
"I'm not lost anymore." Key said.
"I know. That is what this powwow we are having is about. To welcome back our 'lost child' and to rename you appropriately." Harriet gently touched Key's face. "You need to know how important you are to us."
"Everybody in the Jeep." Sophia gestured to her old Cherokee. Sophia rode up front with Mai. Kiona and Key sat in the back where there were no seats. The Jeep was designed for two, with cargo in the back. Fortunately it wasn't a long ride to the society building.
