Anne spent the whole day reading as Gilbert sat on the chair next to her reading his own books and writing with his pencil in them. Anne suddenly put the books she was reading aside and looked at Gilbert.
She was very terrified. Not at the moment but of what was waiting for her. Billy and his friends had almost strangled her to death, if Gilbert didn't show up and she couldn't continue going back to school and she would fall behind, and Matthew was terribly sick and had been out looking for Anne, and Marilla was out looking for Anne and they had been worried the past few days, and when she got home she had to do the farm chores, the house chores, look after Matthew and keep up with school. "I'm feeling better," Anne told Gilbert, as Gilbert stopped reading his books and looked at Anne with a questioning look. "Anne... you are anything but better. Your neck is still bruised and your voice is scratchy and weak, and you can't stand yet..."
"No. You don't understand! You must let me go!" Anne pleaded in stress as she neatly put the books away and folded the blanket and tried to get up, whimpering in pain.
"Anne! Listen to me!" He demanded, raising his voice, but Anne pushed him back and faced away as a tear escaped her eyes but she tried her best to not be seen crying, as she wiped it away, but Gilbert could tell she was, from the way she was breathing heavily. As she blinked, it dripped from her eyelid and slid down her cheek. She bit her lip tightly in attempt to hide any sound that wanted to escape from her mouth.
Gilbert's heart sank. he also put his book away and sat next to her in bed. He rubbed his neck and he wrapped an arm around her shoulders and pulled her close, gently rubbing her arm. Despite the heaviness in her stomach, it fluttered at the feeling of her body pressed against his.
She sunk into the warmth of his side, appreciative of the simple gesture. His touch made the room warmer somehow, her future within its walls seeming a little less bleak. They sat like that on the bed for what seemed like forever. In Gilbert's arms, she was safe and her worries disappeared like the snow on summer earth. In that embrace, she was cocooned better than any butterfly-to-be.
Gilbert felt her soft skin and the gentle squeeze on his own. He bathed in her warmth and the smell of freshly laundered clothes. He was so excited to finally have Anne in his arms that he wanted to get up and hop from one foot to the other like a little girl and he was not ashamed one bit. He was deliriously happy, giddy even. But after Gilbert woke up from his own thoughts, he crossed his eyebrows in worry for Anne. Anne had forgotten all her worries in Gilbert's arms and was so peaceful she was almost asleep. Gilbert slowly rested her head on the pillow, making sure it was comfortable and pulled the blanket back on her. He smiled shyly at Anne's sleeping body. He was smiling at the thought that she fell asleep in his arms and how Anne's expressions were calm now.

(The next day or maybe 2 days later. You decide lol!!!)
Anne had felt better and insisted that she was much better.
Anne wore her brown boots as Gilbert stood beside her making sure she doesn't fall. Her voice was still scratchy and her neck was still bruised, but she had declined most of Gilbert's offers to help her. On the way home, Anne was limping on her leg all the time which was making Gilbert concerned that she shouldn't put so much pressure on it and rest it and was regretting thinking that Anne was better, but Anne was impatient to go home.
"I have heard you are leaving to travel the world." Anne brought it up, starting a conversation. "Will you ever come back?" Anne felt lonely for a moment. Thinking that one day, Gilbert Blythe's seat will be empty in class, but she said it with confidence, keeping her head high.
"Yes. I am leaving soon, but I haven't thought about when I'm coming back." Gilbert said in a passionate expression of grieve and sorrow and sounded something like Anne.
"I'll miss you." It escaped from her mouth.
Gilbert looked at her with all the emotions he had in him but only managed to say:"So will I."
As they reached the gates, Anne thanked him and they both stared at each other for what seemed like an hour until Anne had to pull away from the stare. "Good luck on your journey, and come home someday." Anne smiled.
Gilbert nodded his head with his eyebrows crossed in despair but a little smile still on his lips.
Authors note: Lol this is not my favorite chapterr... but I have so many ideas, and the next few chapters are not going to be my favorite chapters, as the story starts to build up and I get to the part where I write my favorite parts. Anyways please tell me if I can put anything in these starter chapters to make them more interesting until we reach the good parts.
