I could tell that Merida felt the same way as we looked up at him sympathetically.
Merida had literally just told me that Hiccup and Elsa were going to the same diner.
Yikes. Should we say something?
I quickly glanced at Merida, hoping she was able to read the worrisome expression on my face at what Jack just told us. She made eye contact with me before stiffly shaking her head.
"We're sorry, Jack. We would still love to meet your sister another time." I replied hesitantly with a small smile, hoping that he wouldn't notice, and he gave me a thankful grin. The three of us fell silent for a few seconds after I spoke.
I sighed and said, "Just bring it in, come on." The both of them hugged me and Jack lifted the both of us. I shrieked which made him laugh and so did Merida. He put us down and waved us goodbye before walking away.
When Jack left, I immediately let out a sigh of relief.
"I'm not sure if I could have kept the act up any longer! Should we, like, do something? It's going to be really awkward if they see each other, right?" I suggested, looking over at Merida with a raised brow.
She shrugged at my words.
"Well, they might be going at different times." Merida countered, scratching her head in thought.
"Elsa has cheer practice today until 4:30 in the afternoon, though..." I added, and Merida frowned.
"We can't really do anything about it, we're both busy. If they do see each other, I'm sure they can handle it. I think." Merida stated hesitantly, but I nodded at her words.
The two of us said our goodbyes, knowing that there was nothing else we could do to make the situation less awkward for our friends.
I eventually made my way to my car parked in the student parking lot and began making my way to the hair salon for my appointment, quietly humming along to the song playing on the radio.
Elsa
When the last bell rang, I found myself walking in the direction of my locker once I left my last class of the day.
I was heavily anticipating what was going to happen with Hiccup, the last thing I wanted was for our friendship to be ruined. My head was practically spinning from my overthinking as I let my feet instinctively carry me to where my locker was.
I stopped in my tracks as I realized that Merida, Punzie, and Jack were already standing there, deep in conversation about something that seemed pretty serious. I quickly turned back around, hoping that none of them were able to spot me. I pulled out my phone as I felt it vibrate in my pocket to see that Hiccup had just texted me.
Hiccup: hey, i know you have practice soon so i'll just be waiting in the school library til ur done
Me: ok, i'll call u at 4:50!
Hiccup: can't wait :)
I sighed to myself before putting my phone away and shoving it back into my pocket. I started making my way to the gym and eventually found myself walking into the girl's locker room, waving at my fellow cheerleaders as I started to get ready for practice.
After cheerleading practice...
I was practically exhausted as our coach finally dismissed us to go back to the locker room. I was panting as I and the rest of the cheer team jogged from the football field back to the gym. I was glad that practice was over so that I could physically relax, but I knew that emotionally I wouldn't be able to catch a break anytime soon.
