I kept to myself as I freshened up and changed back into my clothes from earlier. I wasn't in the mood to necessarily spark up small talk with anyone, so once I was dressed, I took my backpack out of my gym locker and slipped my arms through the straps.

I reached for my phone as I walked out of the locker room and pulled it out to look at the time. It was 4:45pm, and I had a few unread messages from Merida and Punzie. I decided to look through them later and I unlocked my phone before tapping Hiccup's name in my contact list and putting my phone up to my ear.

It rang for a few seconds until Hiccup answered the call.

"Hey, are you done with practice?"

"Yep, just finished. Where should I meet you?"

"I drove to school today, so just meet me in the parking lot by my car. Well, my dad's car. You remember what it looks like, right?"

"Black Camaro. I'll see you!"

"See you soon!"

I shoved my phone back into my pocket and listened to the way my footsteps echoed against the tiled floors of the almost empty hallways. I made my way out of the front entrance of the school since it was closest to the gym. I lazily ran a hand through my hair as I walked off the sidewalk and approached Hiccup's car, where he was already waiting as he leaned against the hood of it.

He looked up from his phone as he realized I had approached him, and he gave me a small grin as I walked up to him and gave him a quick side hug.

"How was practice? Your cheeks are super pink." Hiccup teased, using his thumb to caress my left cheek, and I lightly laughed at his remark.

"Tiring. At least I can grab something refreshing at the diner." I admitted and watched as he approached the passenger side of his car and opened it for me, ushering me to take a seat inside.

"We should get a move on, then." He teased with a playful grin.

I flashed him a thankful smile as I got into the car, relieved that it was already running and that the air conditioning was on. Hiccup closed the door once I was fully settled after I dropped my backpack by my feet in front of me, and he made his way around the front of the car before getting into the driver's side. We eventually pulled out of the school parking lot and began making our way to the diner.

Hiccup and I conversed normally as he drove, not mentioning the elephant in the room. I assumed that he was waiting for us to be sitting down inside the diner to talk everything out properly. We soon arrived at the diner, which was in the middle of town, and I quickly let my eyes scan the parking lot for Jack's motorcycle.

To my relief, I wasn't able to spot his motorcycle, and I felt a weight instantly lift off of my shoulders at the realization that he was not at the diner. He probably already finished up with his little sister.

Hopefully.

When Hiccup parked his car and turned off the engine, I watched as he got out of the car, walked around the front, and opened my door for me. I looked at him sheepishly, I truly did appreciate his sweet gesture even if I was nervous about how this whole thing would go.

I pulled my wallet and phone out of my backpack before I flung my legs out of the car. Hiccup offered his hand and I gratefully took it as he helped me out.

"Why, thank you," I spoke playfully, and Hiccup let out a small laugh before closing the door and locking his car with his key. The two of us walked side-by-side as we entered the diner, and I smiled to myself as we were warmly greeted by the diner's familiar ambiance.
