I've never been one to lose my temper. I'm still not. But its kind of hard when its Dreams turn to pick a show and decides to change the channel every three seconds. Even though he passed five perfectly good choices that would have been fine.

Instead of sulking on the couch in annoyance I choose to follow my nose towards the smell of Blues cooking that was starting to fill the room. It's hard not to be curious about what he's making today. It's always such a pleasant surprise.

"Oh Ink! Perfect! Grab me that pot off the top shelf, please!" He points me in the direction of where they should be as his other hand moves around some veggies he's frying. I do my best not to judge Blues way of organizing and I go and grab. Of course, half of the other pot and pans decided to come tumbling down on top of me as I grab it. Crushing me in the prosses. Blue skips over towards me and grabs the pot out of my hand as I try to move out from under all these noisy death traps.
Blue begins to do his thing. Moving food from one bowl to the other and making sure nothing burns. I do my best to relax and enjoy the quiet noises of the stove sizzling and such. Looking around the kitchen more I notice a stack of papers near the end of the counter, which reminds me... "I saw you put up a bunch of flyers up around town for this cooking thingy or something? What's that about?" I ask, walking over to the stack of papers to make sure its what I thought it was.

Blue turns to me with a smile ten times bigger than the last. Which I wasn't sure was quite possible.

"I wanted to do something fun! I've seen that's there not much going on so I want to hold a Cook-Off! I was also excited to see if anybody else in the area enjoys cooking as much as I do." The amount of joy radiating off of him physically hurt. I look down at the flyers to see 'Cook-Off' in big blue letters with a picture of a Fork and Spoon overlapping into an 'X' shape. I swear that looks too much like one of my shity doodles... no wait it is, he credited me at the bottom of the page. But I swear I would remember making this. "Oh, yeah! And you're going to help me set it up!" A laugh escapes my mouth as he finishes his sentences. I look up to see him dead serious. Why is he serious?

"No, I'm not." I do my best to give him the same serious look.

"No dropping out now, you already made the poster for me. You're apart of this now."

"I never made this?" I shoot back. It came out more like a question than a statement. Blue turns back to his food, ignoring what I said.

The more I look back the more I can vaguely remember Blue crawling in through my window at 4:00 AM, waking me up to do something for him, then shoved some paper in my face. I was too tired to argue and lazily moved my pencil around on a piece a paper until he was satisfied.

That doesn't mean I need to help him! I did him a favour without knowing it. Isn't that good enough?

I do my best to argue my way out of this situation for the next couple of minutes. Which is the equivalent of fighting with a stubborn child.

I decided to leave after that instead of fussing with an energetic 9-year-old. I get told "The food will be done soon!" and "Ask some people to join the Cook-Off!" as I leave. Which I choose to shrug off.

I've never liked the forest. Mostly because nothing ever happens. Sure, it's nice sometimes like right now but I'll never choose to hang out here. It's nice because no one else likes going here either. At least that's what I thought.

I walk around wondering how long I could go hide out somewhere until someone found me. If I'm not there, I can't help him. Simple.

So simple in fact that I find somebody else with the exact idea crying near a tree.
