Jake's POV

Just finished talking with Quaritch and Parker. I head towards the Link Chamber, looking for Grace. I want to ask her for more details about what happened to Olivia, and about that one Na'vi girl. What was her name? Zaine? Zaenee? Wait, I remember. Her name was Zaëne.

She looks so much like her, like Olivia. I miss her, and Tommy.

I roll myself into the Link Chamber, and my eyes immediately find Grace, talking with one of the other scientists.

"Hey Grace?" I say, heading over to her. "Grace."

"What is it now, Marine?" she asks, turning to face me.

"Can I talk to you? In private?"

"Can we not just talk here?" Grace says. "What'd'you need to talk about that no one else can hear?"

"I want to ask about what happened to Olivia, and about one of the Omaticaya hunters, Zaëne," I reply.

Grace tenses slightly. "Well, then let's go." She grabs a handheld screen and leads me to a quiet haZaëne. She leans against the wall, "ask away, Marine."

"First off, what happened to Olivia? In as much detail as possible please," I say.

One the handheld screen she brought, Grace pulls up a picture.

Grace lets out a soft sigh, getting this far away look in her eyes as she stares at the picture. "It's all really obscure. No one really knows for sure what happened. All that's known for sure is that she went out into the forest at night, all on her own, presumably to collect samples. She was found dead the next morning, her body sprawled out on the forest floor. Her body was naked, with leaves covering her chest and hips, and an oxygen mask was beside her."

She turns it screen to show me the picture, and my eyes widen. It's of Olivia's body, just as Grace described. Laying on the ground, dirty and covered with large leaves.

"Most people think she wanted to see how the plants are bioluminescent, how they glow, and was stupid and went alone, then got attacked by the Omaticaya. Others think she just suddenly lost her will to live and that she took her oxygen mask off. Personally, I believe she wanted to move on, get away from this life."

"As in, go on to the next life?" I ask.

Grace shrugs, "I guess you could say that."

I frown, over her words. "What about the Omaticaya, Zaëne?"

Grace tilts her head, thinking. "She only popped up on the radar five or six years ago. Before that we never knew of her existence, she was just another clan member to us. From what we know, she's a skilled Hunter, almost as good as Tsu'tey, the lead Hunter. Zaëne and Neytiri are best friends, and they can mostly be found together. Zaëne seems to have sort kind of affinity with the forest around her, and with the creatures."

Grace pulls up a different picture, showing me. It's Zaëne's face, expressionless, her eyes hard.

I sigh. "She looks al lot like Olivia."

I sense Grace tense slightly. "She does. You miss her, don't you Marine."

She says it as a statement, but I nod. "How could I not," I say, trying to keep my emotions out of my voice. "She was my sister, and best friend."
