The king was asking me to die.
I hate my job.
I wanted to be here. Passionately. If ever one was going to defeat Maxim, it was going to be me. The king had promised.
I was never aloud to talk to the royals except the king. Just the trainers. But I was better than all of them. They were motivated for loyal.
I was loyal to the king, but that was not my motivation. I was motivated by revenge.
The king once told me that his children didn't know they had an uncle.
The truth was to stay between me and my king.
I walk through the garden and I see prince Atlas. He is learning the art of the sword. He isn't very good at it. I told the king I could teach him, he laughed.
"Someday." He said.
He knew that no one could match my skills. But that wasn't always the case.

When I first ran, I was hungry and cold. It was mid December and I was only nine. I didn't have a cloak and I had to jump on and off of hat wagons to escape the hunters. I would be safe if I could get the cord off of my foot. But it was a slave bind and it was woven with steel.
The hunters had followed me for seventy eight miles when he found me. We were in the woods behind the castle wall. He had climbed it. When he first saw me, he asked what I was doing. And then he saw them. Not so much the hunters, but the knives in their hands.
He grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the way. We ran.
When we finally lost them he looked at me and asked
"why were they chasing you?"
I showed him the band.
He nodded.
"I'm going to take you to the king."
I screamed and tried to run. He grabbed me and I punched him in the nose. It started to bleed.
He wrestled me to the ground.
"I won't let him hurt you."
He took my hand and I stood up. And then we went and talked to the king.

I still have the band. I now have a knife that will cut it when the time comes. But that time is when Maxim is dead.
The fortune teller told Maxim that no man could touch him.

The day that I met the king, he saw the cord, and what I had done to Atlas's nose. He dismissed Atlas.
"You're a fighter aren't you."
I noticed.
And then he told me his plan.

I would have had more time, but when the Queen went missing I was called into action. Now the advisor is missing. Something bad is going on.
I finish my tour of the garden, and go to report to the king. I turn the corner to get to the thrown room and there are three men dragging the king. He looks at me and yells
"I'll be alright. Go help my children."
I Sprint down the hall and try to think where they might be when I slammed right into Anne, the nurses apprentice.
"Have you seen the price and the princess?"
