I'm so sorry I haven't updated! Honestly there's no excuse, but I just had a major writers' block. I didn't know so many people were waiting for an update, either! Thanks for being so patient!
Dex
Dex had been in the dark for two days before his imparter lit up.
His brain was muddled with images. Whoever the Washer was that had wiped his mind hadn't been very good - he could remember splashes of bright eyes, a swish of golden hair, and an empty feeling, as well as one of happiness.
The happiness he felt around Biana.
Biana who liked Tam.
He was sitting on the floor, fiddling with an invention, when the imparter flashed green. Dex looked over his shoulder. The imparter read Amy Foster is calling.
"Who the heck is Amy Foster?" Dex mumbled to himself. He paused, his hand over the decline button. A memory stirred at the back of his mind. Before he could change his mind, he jolted his finger forward and hit the accept button.
"Dex?" A voice croaked. He looked at the imparter. There he saw the tear-stained face of a girl he didn't recognize... or did he?
His mind exploded with Flashbacks. Once he could speak again, he looked into the girl's eyes and whispered, "Sophie?"
~~~
Sophie
Sophie stumbled over her words. "Dex I - I didn't mean -"
"Where have you been?!" Dex's words weren't angry, just hurt and confused. "Grady and Edaline haven't left the house for two days because they're suddenly upset over Jolie again, Fitz and Keefe seem majorly lost, and Biana's confused and upset and doesn't know why!"
Sophie started to cry. Amy grabbed the imparter from her and looked into it. "Sophie and Presi-er-councillor Alina got into an argument and then Sophie did something weird and Alina fell over."
Sophie could see Dex's baffled face through the tears. "What? Sophie, what language did you explain this to her in?"
"Pro-probably English," Sophie stuttered. "But she just doesn't really get the mind-break concept."
"Hey!" Amy looked annoyed. "I do, I just don't know how to make it sound less... criminal."
Once Sophie was done explaining, Dex's eyes were wider than she'd ever seen them.
"Gosh," he said. "You really did mess up. But why did they send you to earth? That's really stupid."
"The council is stupid," Amy said bluntly.
"Well, yeah," Dex admitted. "But they tried to erase everyone's minds in the middle of a war with the Neverseen that can only be won with Sophie's help. For all we know, their project could find you guys and..." the strawberry-blonde boy faltered. "They just didn't think this through, is all."
"Project?" Sophie asked. "What are you talking about?"
Dex looked behind himself, paranoid. "Project Flareadon," he whispered. "Forkle told us about it two days ago. There's been a leak. From, you know, our spy."
"That Tam guy?" Amy obviously couldn't take a hint.
"Shush," Sophie stared straight at Dex. "Do we know any more? Is it like... the Neverseen's version of me?"
Dex swallowed.
Then slowly, he nodded.
