Calum: I'm coming to get you;)
I smile at my phone and put it down so I can finish getting ready. I have no idea what Calum has in store for tonight, he just told me that he was taking me out. Once I'm finished getting ready, I put my shoes on so that I can get ready to head downstairs.
A knock on my door startles me, but I yell for whoever it is to come in. To my surprise it's not Michael or even Calum like I would have thought, but both of parents. Not just one, but both.
They have this odd look on their face, like they're uncomfortable or something. Mom closes the door and they awkwardly shuffle over to sit on my bed with me.
"Hey guys, what's going on?"
"So you and Calum, huh?" Dad begins and I cringe.
"Uh yeah, kinda." I shrug nonchalantly. "Michael spilled the beans I guess?"
They shrug. "To be honest, we've kind of suspected it for a while now."
I snort. "How can you suspect something that wasn't there. We hated each other."
"It didn't appear that way to everyone else." Dad rolls his eyes.
"Sweetie, we just thought it would be a good time to go ahead and talk about some things. I mean, we didn't think you'd have a boyfriend for a long time..." Mom says and they both laugh at my expense.
"Uh, I don't want a sex talk if that's what you're about to give me."
"Well you've never had one..." Mom begins.
"What about Michael then? I think if I have to do this then so should he."
"Michael got his a long time ago." Dad laughs.
"I don't have any plans to... y'know. Anway, I um... I get the basics. I mean for crying out loud, Michael Clifford is my brother and he has a limited amount of things that he chooses to talk about. I'm okay, honestly." God, I need out of this situation now. Its so awkward.
"Just be careful, that's all." Mom says.
"I will, no problem." Having this conversation with my parents makes me want to barf.
"Hey, I'd hate to break this fun little party up but Calum's here." Michael announces, poking his head in my door. I glare at him, fully aware that he is solely responsible for this situation happening to me.
I rush down the stairs before my parents can get to Calum first, embarrassing me even more than they already have.
"Hey Cal." I say shyly. This is odd, I'm suddenly nervous to be in his presence. I feel like a twelve year old girl talking to her crush for the first time. He's just Calum.
"Hey cutie." He winks, just before my parents enter the room with us and then his whole demeanor changes.
He smiles his signature Calum smile and greets my parents just as he always does when he comes over, except this time it's under different circumstances. Very different circumstances. If they only knew that the two of us skipped school to lay in my bed together all day earlier this week, they'd probably have a heart attack. I'm surprised Michael hasn't spilled the beans on that yet.
"Hey Cal, nice to see you again, son." Dad pats Calum on the back as he exaggerates the word son. Oh God. It's not unusual for my parents to refer to any of the boys as 'son', but dad is making a show of this. Michael snickers deviously from his place on the couch. If I had something in my hands, I'd launch it at him.
"Where are you two headed tonight?" Mom asks, almost bouncing with giddiness.
"That's a surprise." Calum chuckles, looking to me. I hate surprises and I hate this experience with my parents.
