I watched as Phelan sprung himself up onto the stage. I glanced quickly at Channing to his mouth ajar and his eyes wide with a look of fear. I could have laughed at the expression but I knew he was worried for a good reason.
Phelans gang was known to do things to girls that they did not want done. This affected my feelings within seconds but there was something else that crawled beneath my skin; he was already eighteen. He knew we were mates.
Kiyiya he said with a smirk on his face. Im your mate, not the Alpha, and Im right here. He said with his eyebrow raised. I looked from his captivating face and noticed my feet had carried me in Channings direction.
Youre of age I began in a hoarse whisper and he nodded knowingly. You kept sleeping around. I added just as lowly and he shrugged before addressing the crowd. You shall all be going home now. He yelled with a smile on his face. I heard some of his mates laugh as the crowd dispersed.
I wanted to mindlink Channing but I knew it would look suspicious if we both blanked out right now.
Phelans arms reached out towards me and my father let out a growl. I watched as my mother smacked his shoulder and pushed me forward and into my mates waiting embrace.
I felt my tears spill over on to my cheeks and my mate pulled me close. I stared at Channings shocked expression before finally letting myself realise his touch was heating my skin sending sparks to my heart.
Speed things along Kiyiya, accept your mate and the fate the Goddess has chosen for you. My mother said, happiness lacing her voice. I looked up at Phelan and his hand sent sparks as it brushed my jawline. How did Channing ever give this up? I thought.
Thinking of Channing had me backtracking. I stared into Phelans green eyes before Channings blue ones. I Im not ready yet. I said slowly and Channings face morphed into relief as he didnt even try to hide his joy.
Should we not try to get know each other. Phelan asked as he winked in my direction. I felt a shiver run down my spine and I found myself yearning for time with him. I convinced myself not to make eye contact with Channing as we decided to go to Phelans house. As it was my ceremony they waited for me to say thanks, but as I glanced up our eyes met and I could see emotions swimming in his mind.
I couldnt say anything. My mouth was dry and my mind blank. I would always love him but I needed to move on. We stared at each other for what seemed like hours and I found myself being lost in his gaze. Almost nothing could get me to look from his eyes not even when my mother cleared her throat loudly.
Thank you Alpha for this perfect ceremony. Phelan said grasping my hand. Channing let my gaze go as his eyes fell on our entwined fingers. I stepped in front of Channing with my head low. Thank you Alpha Channing and then I paused and met his eyes once more. for everything. I added, hoping he would get my drift. I tried to smile but pulling up my cheeks only made the welled up tears fall.
Kiyiya? he murmured, reaching for my free hand but I placed it on Phelans bicep. I could hear the hurt in Channings voice and it was becoming unbearable. I could sit around and hear it anymore. Should we not be on our way, Phelan? I asked. I was desperate to get away from the guilt that robbed me of my senses as I stood there holding a man I was forced to love and walking from the man I needed to love.
Phelan smiled, almost happy that we would be leaving the publics eye. The thought of the things he had been rumoured to have done to women made my skin crawl. We made our way from the field, through the village and towards Phelans house.
Im really going through with this. I thought as I stepped into his threshold. No going back now anyway. My wolf said through our link. I inwardly groaned and closed the link. She was to sarcastic for my taste.
