Pairing: Jonah Marais x reader (female)
Summary: A nervous Jonah calls his girlfriend Y/N right before his headlining performance at Madison Square Garden. He talks to her about his worries and wishes she were there to help calm him down before he and the boys get on stage. What he doesn't know is that Y/N is on her way to surprise her boyfriend, except she's stuck in New York traffic. Being unable to physically calm him down, Jonah asks her to sing him a song, in hopes, it would calm down his jitters.
Jonah sat in the dressing room.
Knees bouncing.
Palms sweating.
Mind racing.
It was the boys' first time headlining Madison Square Garden.
Something he deemed impossible.
Yet here he was, getting ready to play songs off his, and the boys' of course, 3rd album.
When they first heard about the news, they were ecstatic.
They were finally fulfilling the one goal they've been dreaming of since they were small children.
As the date grew closer and closer, the excitement did so as well.
And on the very day, unimaginable feelings were coursing through 4 of the boys' veins.
The other boy had other feelings running through his blood.
Anxiety.
Fear.
And a lot of nausea.
Jonah never would've thought he would be so nervous on this day.
He thought it would be just as easy as Jingle Ball, but he was so wrong.
So he sat in his dressing room trying to find a way to suppress his anxieties.
He already tried coffee but that only made him worry faster.
He tried to exercise but it didn't work either.
Jonah bit his lip. This time out of frustration.
He didn't want to feel this way on such an important day, but he couldn't help himself.
He forced his mind to try to think of a way to relieve him of these feelings and he couldn't think of any.
Until it hit him.
He scurried over to the table and grabbed his phone, fumbling to hold it correctly.
He slid up on the screen and pressed the green phone button pressing down on someone's contact he knew would calm him down.
He pressed the call button and waited for the ringing to begin.
As the ringing increased, his heart raced faster afraid that they wouldn't pick up.
"Hello?" He sighed finally being able to listen to the angelic voice he has been craving to hear.
"Hey, baby," he breathed out.
"Hi, bubs!" She responded enthusiastically. "What's up?"
"Nothing much, just kinda really freaking out over tonight."
"And you thought hearing my voice would help you?" She giggled through the line.
"I mean having you physically here would be a lot better but I guess your voice should do," he smiled.
A car beep was heard in the distance, throwing Jonah off.
"Hey, Y/N/N, are you driving?"
"Yeah, I'm on my way to the mall to meet some friends," she lied but prayed her boyfriend wouldn't notice.
