~(Y/n)'s POV~

I paced around my room, stuck in my thoughts as I held the note out in front of me. I couldn't place who this person was. Why me?

I groaned, tossing the note onto the bed and opening my closet, which was void of ball dresses. I would have to go shopping for one and a mask before the end of the week. I could ask Haruhi to join me, but I don't think she really minds much on what a dress looks like. Plus, she would have to dress in a tux anyways, so it wouldn't matter.

This whole not having female friends was kind of sucking. I looked over to my wall where a framed picture was, the one Kaoru saw. The one with my old friend Kairi. She would have loved to do this with me. I hate that my mother did what she did. When she hurt me the worst.

>Flashback to middleschool<

I had just made my way back home, Kairi in toe as she had wanted to stay the night with me. We were extremely close, and if she wasn't at my house I was usually at hers. We were inseparable. We knew everything there was to know about each other.

We were making our way up to my room, when my mother stopped us, glaring towards us. "Welcome back, Kairi Suzumoto."

"H-Hello Ms. (L/n)," My mother always made Kairi nervous. Kairi never got this way around anyone other than her, and my mother loved feeding off of her fear. "We were just heading up to my ro-"

"I wasn't speaking to you, you ungrateful child." I frowned, then sighed as I turned away.

"Yes, mother." I rolled my eyes, but not in her view.

"Now, Kairi." She turned towards my friend, who visibly shook a little. "I want to have a little fun. You wouldn't disobey me, right?" Kairi shook her head. I raised my brow, curious of my mothers intentions. She leaned down to her, whispering in her ear.

Kairi shook her head, stammering. "I-I can't possibly do that!" Her voice quivered as she looked around. Her eyes landed on me sympathetically, then she lowered her head.

"I can't do this anymore. I'm sorry Ms. (L/n). You can't keep pushing me around."

"Then leave." My mother sneered, turning away from us, but her elbow knocked against Kairi, causing her to tumble down the large stairwell.

"Kairi!" I shouted, running down after her. She sat up, rubbing her head and groaning, but when I went to help her up, she shoved me away.

"J-Just stay away from me! I don't want anything more to do with you and that horrible mother of yours!" She stood up, thankfully okay, and ran out. Tears ran down my cheeks as I heard my mother begin to cackle.

"See, not even your only friend can stand you. Now get to your room, I'm tired of seeing your face."

~~END OF FLASHBACK~~

I sighed as I stared at the photo. I didn't want to think our friendship could end so easily. I'm just glad that she ended up being okay after that fall.

Maybe, maybe I could give her a call, and maybe we could reconnect? Now that I'm out of mothers house.

I had to try. What could it hurt?

I grabbed my phone, going down to her contact, and dialing it. My heart thumping against my chest as it rang.

Ring ring.

Ring ring.

Ring ring.

"Hello?" My eyes widened slightly as her voice answered, sounding confused.
