veronica and i were sitting on my couch as we watched a movie together. she was leaning against my side as i had my arm around her.

for anyone looking in, they would've thought we were dating.

but we were just friends.

best friends.

nothing more.

i put some popcorn in my mouth then in veronica's.

"okay." i put more popcorn in my mouth. "this movie is the dumbest thing ever."

she hit my arm. "is not. plus the guys are hot."

i looked down at her. "those guys are like, thirty."

we were watching "to all the boys i loved before", veronica's request.

"still." she replied. "and josh is an asshole."

"eh, peter's is not much better." i said.

she shrugged her shoulders and turned her attention back to the movie.

a few minutes later, she paused the movie.

"i need to use the bathroom." she said.

she stood up and walked into the bathroom. i picked up my phone and started scrolling through instagram.

one of betty's pictures came up in my feed and i liked it. i went to her profile and scrolled through the millions of pictures she had, occasionally clicking on one.

i hated myself for intruding on her life.

i knew i had no right to do it.

but i did it anyways.

i scrolled down further to the bottom and clicked on a picture from a few months ago.

veronica came back from the bathroom and went into the kitchen behind the living room, where i was.

i clicked off the picture and went back to a more recent one.

i didn't like it.

i didn't comment on it.

i just looked at it.

i admired every beautiful piece of her body.

her face was sweet like her personality.

and just like you would expect, she was amazing.

"betty cooper, huh?" veronica's voice said from behind me.

i quickly exited out of her page and put my phone under the blanket, my face turning bright red.

she walked around the couch and took a drink from her water bottle.
