His attention turned to the detective in question's desk, which sat behind the empty desk that may have belonged to one of Hank's old partners.
The computer monitor that sat on her desk only had one thing pressed into the corner of the screen that said 'if only sarcasm burnt calories'
She also had canine hairs on her chair, but they belonged to a German Shepard. A large coat was slung over the back of the office chair & her desk was tidy compared to the Lieutenant's. She also had pictures on her desk, one was the same photo Hank had & the other was of a large German Shepard, most likely the one that caused the dog hairs. It was wearing a dark blue collar with a tag, the name 'Blue' on it.
What an odd name for a dog.
He turned to his side to see Hank walking up to him.
"It's good to see you again, Lieutenant." He greeted.
"Uh, Jesus."
"Sorry I'm late!" (Y/N) came jogging into the office.
"I'll be damned, I beat you to work."
"Yeah well traffic's a bitch in this city." She puffed.
"(Y/N)! Hank! In my office." Fowler yelled as (Y/N) groaned quietly.
"We're up shit creek now. Haven't even been here for more than a minute."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hank was sitting in a chair whilst (Y/N) leant her shoulder against the glass, her arms folded & her elbow holding her up against the fragile surface. Connor stood near the door, both hands collected neatly in front of him.
"I've got ten new cases involving androids on my desk every day." Fowler was staring at his screen & Hank nodded, nearly sarcastically.
"We've always had isolated incidents, old ladies losing their android maids & that kind of crap." He looked at the detective who was staring out the glass inattentively & the lieutenant in front of him.
"But now, we're getting reports of assaults & even homicides like the guy last night." This caught (Y/N)'s attention & she turned to face the Captain. Connor was listening to every one of the man's words.
"This isn't just Cyberlife's problem anymore. It's now a criminal investigation & we've gotta deal with it before this shit hits the fan. I want you both to investigate these cases & see if there's any link."
"Why me?" Hank asked rottenly.
"Us." (Y/N) mumbled, barely loud enough to hear.
"Why do we gotta be the ones to deal with this shit? I am the least qualified cop in the country to handle this case! & you're dragging (L/N) into the ditch as well? At least she's got her life together!"
The android tilted his head as he looked at the woman, her eyes on the ground.
"I know jack shit about androids Jeffrey! I can barely change the settings on my own phone!"
"Everyone's overloaded. I think you're both perfectly qualified for this type of investigation." He gestured his hands towards Hank.
"Bullshit! The truth is nobody wants to investigate these fucking androids & you left me holding the bag!""Need I remind you someone in this room will be working with you & she has the right of opinion as your partner."
They turned to (Y/N), her eyes still scanning the floor.
"If he's bullshitting then I truly don't mind, as long as I don't have to stay cooped up in an office all day." She uttered, loud enough so they could all hear.
"There. It's settled, case closed." Fowler's voice boomed, even though he was speaking normally.
Hank stood up, almost in defeat.
"Cyberlife sent over this android to help with the investigation. It's a state-of-the-art prototype, it'll act as your partner."
"No fucking way! You already gave me a partner, I don't need a godamn nother! & certainly not this plastic prick!"
"Hank! You are seriously-" Connor chose not to hear the rest of the conversation as he made the walk over to (Y/N).
"Does this happen...often?" He leaned in & asked her semi-quietly. She turned her head to face him.
"Pfft, oh yeah. They always get at each other's throats like this. Just another day at the office. Although it's usually over by-"
"-& shut your godamn mouth!" They both twisted back to look at the argument.
"You know what my godamn mouth has to say to you, huh? -"
"Hank!" (Y/N) scolded, her eyebrows furrowed.
"Ok - Ok, I'll pretend like I didn't hear that, so I don't have to add any more pages to your disciplinary folder, 'cause it already looks like a fucking novel! This conversation is over!"
There was a terribly awkward silence.
"Jeffrey, Jesus Christ! Why are you doing this to me?" The Lieutenant asked, his voice volume lowering. "You know how much I hate these fucking things," He flicked a thumb at Connor.
"why you doing this to me?"
"Listen, I've had just about enough of your bitching. At least (L/N) knows when to suck it up & keep her godamn mouth shut. Right now, she's acting like more of an adult than you. Either you do your job or you hand in your badge. Now if you'll excuse me, I've got work to do."
Hank stop leaning on the desk, glaring at the captain before letting out a grouchy sound & slamming the door, leaving Connor trying to interpret what just occurred.
"& there's the final bell, ring out finish for Hank Anderson." (Y/N) stopped leaning & turned to look back through the glass at her partner stomping away.
"If he causes any trouble (L/N), do us all a favour & report his ass."
She turned & gave Fowler a half smile.
"Will do chief, have a good day." That was the last thing she said before she spun on her back heel to swiftly manoeuvre herself through the exit.
"I would like to start reviewing the case files. Can you tell me where I-"
"Talk to (Y/N). Close the door on your way out."
"Have a nice day captain." Connor nodded before making his way out the door.
