- - -(Y/N) sat in her apartment, listening to Christmas music as she drew. She had the day off from work and decided to revisit an old passion of hers before she got started on all the mundane errands she had to run. She still had many gifts to buy, not to mention groceries on top of it. And if she was to have company over during the holidays, which was to be the plan—a good number of her friends were coming over—she had a lot of cleaning to do.
However, for the time being, (Y/N) was content with procrastination. And there was no better way of wasting time than drawing early in the morning with a warm cup of tea and Christmas music to act as a muse.
After about an hour of drawing, (Y/N) decided she should get ready to start preparing. She stood from her chair, reaching for her cup of tea.
"I never knew you enjoyed drawing."
(Y/N) nearly jumped out of her skin when she heard Vision's voice from behind her. She didn't hear him enter their apartment, mostly likely because Vision often refrained from using doors. It was something (Y/N) hated, mostly because it startled her and provided more than its fair share of awkward situations.
"I didn't mean to frighten you." Vision said apologetically.
"Vis, you're early," (Y/N) smiled and moved to wrap her arms around his torso. Vision hugged her, too, holding her close. He was away more than he was home, which called for plenty of time for missing him. "I thought you wouldn't be home until later this week."
"We finished ahead of schedule." He informed her. "Tony wanted to make sure he could get back to Ms. Potts before Christmas."
"I'm glad that was the case." (Y/N) smiled. "Imagine how sad it would be for me to spend Christmas all alone."
"Most unfortunate," Vision agreed. He moved away from (Y/N) and to the table where her sketch sat. "May I look at it?"
"Of course," She tucked her hands into her pockets, feeling a familiar anxiety. Sharing art was always a scary thing, no matter how close she was to whomever she was sharing it with. "It isn't very good, but it isn't finished, either."
She crept up beside him and studied his features as his eyes observed the art. It was impossible to tell what he was thinking.
"Who is she?" He questioned.
"I don't know," Answered (Y/N). "Just someone."
"It's very good. I didn't know you were so gifted." He smiled and gently placed the paper on the table. "You don't draw often, do you?"
"No, not anymore." (Y/N) admitted. "I never really have the time. What with work and my boyfriend being an avenger... I spend most of my time worrying."
"I don't mean to make you worry, (Y/N)." He frowned. "If you'd like me to stop—"
"No, you're saving people. Do what you think is best, don't worry about me. It's my job to be concerned."
"I'll be safe for a while." Vision assured her. "Tony said I can take a week for myself. Since we hardly see one another."
"That sounds wonderful,"
"Yes, I thought so, too."
(Y/N) laughed at his nature. The way he spoke and carried himself was part of the reason why she fell for him. Many people thought their relationship was strange, but she wouldn't have it any other way.
"I couldn't wait to decorate." (Y/N) said apologetically. "I know I said I would, but it looked so bland."
"I suspected you would." He smiled, too, clearly not upset by the transgression. "It looks nice."
"Oh, and look!" She hurried over to a shelf and picked up a snow globe. Inside was a little snowman family gathered around a Christmas tree. "A coworker of mine got me this. Isn't it cute?"
Vision smiled and kissed the top of her head. "Yes, it is."
(Y/N) placed the snow globe back on its shelf as a silence settled over them. The heater drowned the silence out, and over that, the music played softly.
"What song is this?" Vision turned his attention to the little record player next to the window. "I don't believe I've heard it before."
"I'll Be Home For Christmas. It's one of my favorites." She smiled. She turned it up a bit louder. "And very fitting."
Vision listened quietly, closing his eyes like he was feeling the music flow through the air and to his ears. "I like it," He decided.
(Y/N), utterly in awe of him, reached for one of his hands. "Let's dance,"
Vision let her place his hands on her hips and she draped her arms around his neck. The two swayed in time with the music, just basking in the moment.
(Y/N) loved being so close to him. It made her feel safe but also reminded her that Vision was safe, too. With him being gone on missions so often, (Y/N) was left at home fretting over him, and whether or not he'd return safely, or at all, for that matter. It was nice to finally have him in her arms, where she knew he was out of harm's way.
She rested her head on his chest and allowed herself to close her eyes. She felt Vision rest his chin on the top of her head as they swayed.
(Y/N) smiled. "I'm glad you're home."
He pressed a kiss to the top of her head. "I wouldn't want to be anywhere else,"
