Is this why I’m here? To hear him tell me how great I’m doing? I mean, I’m actually thankful to hear all of this, but usually if this was it, the Senior would tell me. I don’t know how I’m supposed to take it. “I’m not sure how to take this, Super-Senior…” I let out as I’m trying to find more words. “Do I say ‘thank you’?” I add shortly afterwards. “Not quite yet, Breeze. I have some rather exciting news for your continuing training.” He goes on to say. I’m on the edge of my seat right now. I’m struggling to keep my cool right now.
“You and your Senior are quite on the same page regarding your progress in the meditation-sessions. I also know that you’re training without a partner, which you have been ever since you came here. I’ve received news of another Junior Elemental who has been made partner-less after an unfortunate incident at a dual-session. She’s being sent to us and I figured, since you are progressing and without a partner, I’d put her with you so that you can hopefully stabilize your performance and excelling.” He goes on to say. Me, a partner? I’ve always felt bad for my future partner, considering my problems with my element, but now I’m more excited. At the same time I sense something rather risky about it.
“Why is she coming here?” I then find myself asking. “Turns out she was quite hard to handle after what happened to her partner. They thought maybe a change of scenery would be good on her.” He explains further as I let the thoughts swirl around a little bit. If she’s hard to handle, I don’t know if she’ll be right for me, considering I’m barely in control myself. “…hopefully you can both help each other about gaining control.” He says as I look up at him. Getting a partner is a big step in training, but having heard this, I’m not sure I’m ready for it.
“If she was so hard to handle they had to send her here, I’m not sure I’m stable enough to be around her. I’ve barely begun to gain control over my element and I’m still vulnerable to people around me.” I let out as he nods understandingly. “You’re one of the few well-reflected Juniors in this place, more reflected than most I’ll say, but she’s also re-starting her journey of control. You’ll both be going down the same path. I suppose, you two doing it together, can help both of you. In my opinion: you are her best match in this place.” He explains.
It doesn’t really matter what I say. I can’t change his mind. The decision has already been made and this Junior Elemental is already on her way. Besides, this Super-Senior is smart. He must have a logic plan behind this move. I’ve only experienced good sides from him so I should try and trust him. “I hope you are right about this, Super-Senior. Thank you for the ‘promotion’…” I then let out. He nods satisfied. “When does she arrive? Should I stick around nearby?” I then ask him. “Yes, she shouldn’t be that far away. Stay nearby and I’ll call for you through the speakers when she’s ready to meet you.” He says.
Northern Academy
Blaze:
I already know this isn’t the place for me. I mean look at this place! It’s too damn cold for a fire-elemental! I’ve been given this tight coat to wear when walking out of the aircraft. The wind is blowing and in contact with my skin, I can feel it burn…in a different way than fire of course. Looking around the place, behind me there’s just a wasteland of freaking blizzard-storms and mountain tops. Stepping up to the academy’s gates, some sort of Senior meets me, welcomes me I think. He goes to grab my stuff. As much as I want to stare him down, I just want to get to some warmth. It feels like it takes forever, but in reality it only takes a couple of minutes.I shake off the cold and snow from the coat as I take off my hoodie and look around at where I am. I recognize of course the Super-Senior’s building. They’re all the same no matter what academy you go to. There’s still that cold and empty feeling when I look around the place. It doesn’t change either when people are approaching me. The one in the middle must be the Super-Senior, by clothing one can always tell. He looks even more ridiculous than the one I left if I’m perfectly honest.
“Junior Elemental Blaze, I assume…” He lets out as he offers his hand for a normal handshake. I just look at it before I look up at him, letting him know I have no intention in taking it. “Hm…and they say we’re the cold ones…” He lets out, probably referring to Seniors from the North in general. “Welcome to the Northern Academy.” He then lets out.
I still don’t say anything as it stays quiet for a little while. Then all of a sudden, someone tries to grab my bags and I immediately turn defensive and stare them to back off. “Don’t worry about your belongings, J.E. Blaze. They will simply bring it to your new quarter while you and I have a little chat.” He says as he’s trying to gesture me to follow him, but I’m standing put. “Why?” I then ask him. I don’t really want a ‘chat’ with that guy. In fact I don’t even want to be here!
He stops exasperated it seems and then turns towards me with a more serious look on his face. “I make a point to talk with every new student I get inside my academy-walls. Despite the fact that I have files on you because you come from a different academy, you’re not an exception from that. Now, follow me.” He answers rather sternly. Something about him makes me just let him have his way. I don’t know why, but for some reason I just do…for now.
