I pulled up outside and parked by the entrance gate.

"Alright I'll see you later darling." I said whilst gazing out the window before turning my head and smiling at Johanna.

The brunette smiled and leaned in towards me. We shared a quick kiss before pulling away and both getting out the red Mini Cooper.

"Have fun, babe." I heard her say as I walked round to the back of the car to collect my guitar.

"I will, don't worry," I took my guitar case out the boot before shutting it and walking towards Johanna, "We'll be done in something like two hours and if we're a little late you're always invited inside." I smiled down at my girlfriend, her face wearing the same expression as mine. She was wearing a bit less than what would be ideal in this weather, I thought, as she opted for a black dress that ended at her mid thigh paired with a coat of the same colour.

I, however, had gone for a Sheffield Wednesday shirt, a brown jumper, a beige coat and some black jeans.

Before I could think about dress sense anymore, Johanna closed her eyes, puckered her lips and got up on her tip toes to connect our lips.

This one lasted a bit longer than the one in the car as she placed her hand on my cheek and I put my guitar down just to push her against the side of the car.

We were just starting to get somewhere when Johanna broke it off with a giggle. "You're already late, Alex. You should get going."

I sighed and nodded, pulling away and straightening the collar of my coat.

"I'll see you later, darling." I smiled and picked up my guitar.

"Bye." Johanna sang as she got into the driver's seat.

I didn't look back anymore as I carried on into yellow arch studios for another rehearsal of Lesbian Wednesdays. I heard the mini trundle away just as I got inside. It was a short journey up the stairs and into the rehearsal room where the rest of the band were already, along with some sound engineers in the control room.

"Y'alreyt al?" Nick smiled at me from across the room.

I gave him a nod and a smile before doing the same for Jamie who was watching our interaction.

I set me guitar case down on the floor next to the amp I usually used and flicked open the locks, revealing me relatively new purchase: an all black Fender Bronco.

I took the neck in me hand and pulled it out, gently nudging the case closed with my foot before pulling the strap over me head so that the instrument rested nicely on my stomach. I was still in the process of getting my guitar strap lower, but it was an improvement from a couple years ago where I wore my Fender up on me tits.

I walked over to Matt who was playing a random rhythm and practicing drumstick tricks with it. When he saw me come over, he stopped playing and smiled up at me.

"You alright?" He looked me up and down as he greeted me.

"Yeah s'pose..." I mumbled.

"Still got them problems with sleeping?" Matt arched one of his eyebrows as he asked the question.

"Yeah still going strong." I answered sarcastically, letting go a heavy sigh at the end. I had been suffering with insomnia for a month at that point, something I didn't foresee would turn into a bit of a long term issue. However, it did pave the way for some darker (literally) songwriting. "I started writing a tune on a walk at 3am a few weeks back... D-A-N-GE-R-O-U-S... animal." I mumbled.

"You seem a bit out of it mate. You sure you're ok?" Matt watched me, genuinely concerned.

"Yeah I said I'm fine. I just didn't get any sleep till," I glanced at my watch, "two hours ago. I was finishing off the words to the one we're doing now. It's about summat that happened a few years ago, you'll get it when we play it." I gave Helders a wry smile as I walked away from the drums and over to my microphone, with Jamie in front of me and Nick to my left, the four of us arranged in a loose diamond shape with wires and leads covering most of the floor.

"Alright, we're ready, look." Matt spoke into his microphone, addressing the sound engineers in the room opposite.

I watched one of them give him a thumbs up, Matt immediately counting us in with his drumsticks before starting the song off. Then Nick joined in with the bassline and eventually Jamie's guitar part began.

"Well the mourning was complete, when there was tears on the steering wheel dripping on the seat." I closed my eyes as I explored a couple various peaks and troughs in my vocal range.

"Several hours or several weeks. I'd have the cheek to say they're equally as bleak." I opened my eyes and concentrated them on the fretboard of my guitar as I delivered a few high pitches chords.

"It's the beginning of the end, the car went up the hill and disappeared around the bend, ask anyone they'll tell ya that it's these times that it tends, to start to break enough, to start to fall apart, hold on to your heart." My eyes shut once more as I worked my way through chords whilst singing.

Actually, I focused more on imagining that night. The feelings I kept pent up inside. How easily I could've changed the outcome of the last two years with just a simple three words.

"Cut." I spoke into the microphone and stopped playing, taking of my headphones.
