"Why didn't you call?" Edwin asked, looking at her luggage worried. "I could've like.. cleared out my extra bedroom,"
She shrugged. Amari looked helpless standing outside his door in the early evening. She felt she deserved to not be in the same living space as Zion for the moment. He seemed fed up with her being around.
"Sorry, it was last minute."
He grabbed her small suitcase and guided her inside his home. "No problem. I'm just sort of lost."
They both climbed his spiral stairs, Amari following behind Edwin. He wore a old graphic tee and those classic plaid red pj pants. It was a bit weird not seeing him dressed up to par as usual.
"Lost?"
"What happened," They reaches the top of the stairs. He lead her to his master bedroom. "You and Z?"
She sighed. "He found out about what happened between me and Brandon. It wasn't from me though. His girlfriend came in the apartment and wanted to fight,"
Edwin's mouth hung open a bit. "Mari. How could you—"
"We didn't even actually do anything, he pulled them off and I left 'cause I panicked."
"Pulled what?"
"My panties." She mumbled but he heard clearly. He shook his head, looking at the girl.
"Anyway," He changed the subject a bit. "How long are planning on staying?"
"Not too long. I'm taking Zion into consideration. I just felt he wanted a break from me, so I just saw myself out."
Edwin gives a look of reassurance. If only she knew how wrong she was. He knew that Zion was just disappointed; more than anything just hurt.
He glances over his shoulder at his night stand for the time. "Alright not too long. Want me to order some Chinese food? Sorry, you missed my cooking yesterday," He smiled innocently.
"Damn, okay, Chinese food it is."

The two sat on the couch, indulging themselves in food and Netflix. Basically, a typical night for either one of them. They just happened to be together.
Amari was more into the food, than into whatever they were watching. She loves her food, even when she's not actually hungry.
Edwin picked up on it after a few minutes, as she literally stuffing her face after he was full. That says a lot. He paused the show on the screen, which barely caught her attention until she looked up briefly.
"Why'd you pause it?"
"Why are you still eating so fast?"
She took another fork full of lo mien. "What do you mean? I'm starving."
"You can barely sit up straight. Look," He says, turning himself completely towards her. "I know what you do when your either sad or stressed. You eat a bit too much."
"Maybe I just like food, Eddie." She rolled her eyes. She attempted to stab her fork into another piece of chicken but he snatched it right out of her hand. "Hey!"
"Hi," He takes her plate as well, rushing off with it into the kitchen. "I'm not gonna let you do this."
Pouting, she crossed her arms over her chest. "I'm still hungry."
"You can finish it later," He comes back, taking his food as well. His sock covered feet shuffled against the floor in a bit of a hurry. "I think we should just chill. In this household, we don't eat past 9:30.. normally."
Amari's eyes practically popped out of her head. "9:30? It's 9:16– this is no normal night, Joel. I'm here."
He came back into the living room, plopping back down into the couch beside his best friend. "I'm not buying it. I need you to talk."
She searched for the remote to turn the volume on the tv, as if she couldn't hear it any better. It was on 79, which was pretty loud. He stopped her, taking her hand. She froze, looking up and him almost in fear.
"Let it out." Edwin's voice softens, caressing the top of her hand. Taking his other hand, he paused the tv.
She inhaled to take a big exhale. The girl looked over at him, as he patiently wait. He had all the patience in the world; he didn't mind waiting one bit.
"I messed up so bad. I think I really messed up. I really think he liked me but now I don't think so. It almost feels like I cheated on him even though, we're not— ya know. I'm a desperate ass bitch and I just wanted more attention from him. I stopped him from bringing those girls over, though. I didn't mind at first but then I started to hate it. So I just did what I could do, to get him only focus on me." She blabbered. "I guess, just me doing all this stuff, starting from pissing him off by trying to make his friends mine and then doing something with people dislikes was just my way of begging for his attention."
He blinked slowly. "So what you're saying basically is, all you wanted was his attention."
Her eyes fell to her lap. "Basically. I want to be his main focus, I don't like being apart of a shared attention span." She almost mumbled.
He wasn't going to judge, because that not who he is. Though he was for sure going to get things straight.
"Why didn't you just tell him, Mar? If anything he's probably more nervous around you than you are around him. He's not that tough, no cap. He puts up a front, honestly."
"I don't know? Maybe I just met him like 4 months ago? Fuck!" She rose her voice, so suddenly it cracked. "And I like him so much, I don't know what I'm doing. He was just trying to help and just told him off."
There was a lump in her throat as she tried to carry on, but it quickly led to tears on Edwin's shirt.
She really felt as if it was the end of the world. Like her roommate was her last chance at anything so mutual. She felt truly like an idiot for messing it up.
She's never cried so hard over someone. So she sobbed into his chest until she eventually drained herself out and feel asleep, as he rubbed her back in a slow circular motion. Eventually, he fell asleep as well, holding her tight in his arms.
