-Harry-

It's the last hour of school and I've got more frosting in my hair and clothes than I've ever encountered in my entire life. Rick, who reached Annie first, had taken the entire tray of cupcakes, claiming he was going to help her campaign. When I found her she had a brand new tray of cupcakes in her hands. Other cheerleaders around her also had cupcakes in their hands and that's when I knew I was wrong about her ever running out of cupcakes. After she handed over a tray to me with nothing more than a shrug, I chased after Rick.

Needless to say, we got busted by the school administration. Two classes skipped, a hallway covered in destroyed cupcakes, a team of cheerleaders in need of dry cleaning, and more students covered in sparkly frosting than clothes. Yeah, Rick and I may have started something that got completely out of control, but I can't help but smirk at my work of art best friend who sparkles more than Edward from Twilight.

"Do you two understand the mess you have created?" Vice Principal Peters says, his hands folded neatly on his desk between us. He sounds patient but I can tell he's holding back his anger. He breathes out, "You two are lucky Principal Donovan has gone to the district board meeting today. I'm sure he wouldn't be as dismissive to the mess you guys created."

"Wait, dismissive? Are you saying we're not in trouble?" Rick asks, his voice hopeful. I understand why too. It's nearly the end of senior year and seniors are supposed to be on their best behavior. We could very well have screwed up enough to get our privileges taken away.

"No, you guys are still in trouble, but I'm not going to make you suffer any brutal consequences. You both will help the custodial team clean the hallways you've made a mess of. The after school detention students will assist as well."

"That's it?" It sounds almost too good to be true.

"That punishment sounds fitting since there are only two weeks left of school. Not much more I can tell you two do."

Rick and I exchange smiles. If cleaning the hallways are all we have to do, then there really isn't much to complain about.

"Hello students," a voice sounds from the intercom and I know everyone in the school is now listening. "I know everyone has been patiently waiting for prom court results and the votes have all been counted! The top five girls are..."

I imagine classes filled with students all leaning in to hear the list. Rick and I sit back in the chairs and even Vice Principal Peters relaxes in his seat.

"Sorry guys, you'll all have to just read the lists posted in the hallways!" And the intercom clicks off. Rick and I give each other puzzled looks.

"Wonder why they didn't just announce names," I say.

"Probably didn't want to start chaos in classes. There's already been enough for one day," Vice Principal Peters explains. "Now, back to your punishment."

"Thought you just wanted us to clean the hallways?"

Peters smiles and puts his arms behind his head. "And ... you'll both help set up and clean up Prom, assuming you're both attending?" We know it's not really a question at all but we both nod. "Good, then it's settled. You're free to go boys."

We stand up and I can feel the weight of punishment on my shoulders. Everyone knows the prom committee takes things way too seriously.

As soon as we exit his office something soft smashes against my face and Rick bursts out with laughter. I stare at him dumbfounded and my eyes fall onto the cupcake remains in his hand.

"Where the hell did that come from?" I exclaim. I can feel pieces of cupcake slide from my face and on to the floor.

"Kept it hidden. Wanted to make sure I had the final hit," he grins. I just shake my head pretending to be annoyed at him. "We should find one of those prom lists before the bell rings. Don't want to wait around in a crowd of people."
