LULU'S POV
Ashton's never in five years made me feel like he just did.
He's my best friend, best friends don't make each other blush.
Right?
I know Ashton's always been a flirt and getting around can be his game when he wants to, which is why I've never seen him in a romantic way.
What makes tonight so different?
"Everything okay, Lu?" Ashton asked.
"Yeah. I'm fine." I said forcing a smile.
"Lulu, you're my best friend. I can read you like a book. Now tell me, what's going on in that beautiful mind of yours." He said.
Shit.
I can't tell him.
I know best friends are supposed to tell each other everything, but sometimes it's good to have secrets.
"Nothing. Just um wondering where Jake went off to. I think I'm going to find him." I lied heading for the yard.
"Oh okay. When you find him, come back to me so we can finish our conversation." Ashton said looking kind of hurt.
"Yeah, of course." I smiled stepping outside.
As soon as I went outside, I took a deep breath.
Breathe, Lulu. Just breathe. I said to myself.
"Took you long enough." Jake said.
"Oh Jake. I was just coming to look for you." I said.
"I literally told you I was stepping outside for a smoke. You need to listen more." He said.
"I'm not starting this now, Jake. This is Ashton's day." I said.
"Everything's always about him! What about me? Your actual boyfriend." Jake yelled.
"Jake, I don't know how many times I've told you, you're my boyfriend and I love you! Only you!" I said.
"Whatever, Lu. You can walk home. I don't even know why I bothered coming tonight." He said.
"Jake, wait! I really do love you. Please don't go!" I pleaded.
"If you love me, show it! I'm done with everything being about your other boys! Put me on top for once! I'm done!" Jake yelled pushing me.
That was the first time he's ever hurt me.
The first time he ever laid his hands on me.
Although my heart hurt, I still wanted to keep fighting for us.
"Jake, please." I whispered trying to stand up.
"Bye, Lulu." He said.
