“But the Dark Master heard the prophecies as well. I should have hidden the eggs long before, but I… I thought we were ready, I thought they were safe…” He started walking over to a gold basket-looking thing, were a giant purple egg sat. “Oh… how I was wrong.”
The ground started to shake, stone started to fall from the ceiling, and I kept tripping over something behind me… or attached to me… wait, what!?
“Save them! The dark armies have come!” I heard a different voice in the room, and that one came from a yellow dragon. The red dragon looked back at the purple egg, stood thinking for a second. He grabbed it and blasted a hole through the wall and ran.
And of course, I followed him.
And of course, he jumps off this cliff-looking thing and spreads his wings and flies away. I couldn’t fly, so I knew I was probably screwed.
Until I realized I was walking on four legs and had a tail.
“No way…” I trailed slowly, chasing my scaled tail like a dog. I heard the noises getting closer, and then I saw these giant pink wings. “Awesome!”
Without thinking, I jumped off the cliff. The wings started to move, and I was soaring like I’ve never soared before. I flew over trees, mountains, and a river, hoping I wasn’t getting followed. I followed the red dragon, followed him for a while until her stopped, and set his feet on the ground. I did the same. I hid behind some bushes as I saw what that dragon did. He placed the purple egg in a shell-like thing, and sent it down the river.
“Holy crap…” I whispered, and moved closer, trying to figure out what he was saying.
“May the Ancestors look after you. May they look after us all.” The dragon said before flying off somewhere towards the mountain I first arrived in.
I followed the egg all night down river. This was a video game; I couldn’t mess with the game-time continuum and mess with the story line like I did in Kingdom Hearts. But once night turned to day, I saw the reflection of me in the water. A freaking pink dragon, with scales and horns and everything. But I was glad to the find the controller strapped around my front left leg.
We crossed through grassy fields, a weird-looking mushroom forest, just mysterious places I haven’t seen except in… Wait. Duh.
The Legend of Spyro.
“I’m in freaking Spyro!?” I exclaimed out loud, but no one was there to answer me. “This is just too awesome.”
“Eventually, the egg came to rest in a distant swamp.” I heard a booming voice above me, but there was no one there.
“Stupid narrator.” I muttered as it continued.
“Where a family of fireflies gathered ‘round, wondering what magnificent creature could possible live inside.” The voice said, and I saw the fireflies gather around, so I ducked behind a tree, but poked my head out to see what was going on.
“They didn’t have to wonder for long.” The voice said, and the egg started to shake.
“Oh my God, it’s Spyro…” I realized as the area went black. “Hey, what the-”
“What emerged from the egg frightened them at first, but finally amazed and astonished them.
“…eight, nine, ten! Here I come!” I saw the purple dragon say as he moved away from his tree.
“Oh my God…” I stammered, amazed at the animation and the character.
“It was a purple dragon, who they eventually adopted and raised as one of their own. They named him Spyro and he grew up alongside Sparx, a young dragonfly who was born the same day. In fact, the two were almost like brothers. And a more oddly-matched, yet compatible pair of brothers the world has ever seen.”
