Zari Maximoff |1| The third Maximoff

Chapter 16

Clint says, "Alright, let's load 'em up! Alright, here we go. Here we go, let's move. Let's go everyone!" as we help the people onto the Helicarrier lifeboats.

"We're out of time. They're coming for the core." Thor says into the coms.

"Rhodey, get the rest of the people on board that carrier." Tony say into the coms.

"On it." Rhodey responds.

"Avengers, time to work for a living." Tony tells us

We join Thor and Vision. "You two good?" Pietro asks Wanda and me and we nod.

"Yeah." Both Wanda and I say.

"Romanoff? You and Banner better not be playing hide the zucchini." Tony says as we are in the church.

"Relax, Shell-head. Not all of us can fly." Nat says as she joins the rest of the team.

"What's the drill?" I ask Tony.

Tony points to the Vibranium core and say, "This is the drill. If Ultron gets a hand on the core, we lose." Then Ultron shows up.

"Is that the best you can do?!" Thor shouts and Ultron summons his army of robots to join him.

"You had to ask." I say with a fake glare as I look at Thor.

"This is the best I can do. This is exactly what I wanted. All of you, against all of me. How could you possibly hope to stop me?" Ultron asks.

"Well, like the old man said. Together." Tony says looking at Steve referring to what he said a few days ago. Then all of Ultron's robot attack us and we all fight.

As we are fighting Tony, Thor, Vision, and me shoot Ultron with beams melting his armor. We stop and he says, "You know, with the benefit of hindsight..." Then suddenly Hulk knocks him far away and the robots start to retreat.

"They'll try to leave the city." Thor says.

"We can't let 'em, not even one. Rhodey!" Tony says. Vision runs off to help.

"I'm on it." He responds.

"We need to sweep for straggles. Then we gotta move out. Even I can tell the air is getting thin. We need to blow this city up." Steve says.

"What about the core?" Clint asks.

"I'll protect it. It's my job." Wanda says noding and looking at Clint and me and we nod back at her.

"Wait you said that we wouldn't like you plan to plow up the city. What is your plan exactly?" Steve asks.

Tony sighs about to says something but before he can I do.

"Me." I realizes looking at Tony and everyone freezes and looks at Tony and me.

"Zari is the only one with enough power to hit the core and to explode the rock and with me capping the other end, it will keep the atomic action doubling back, incinerating the city. But there is a risk that one or neither of us will walk away." Tony says and everyone is looking at us concerned.

"Look we don't have time for a debate. We don't have a choice. We will be fine. Wanda stay here and protect the core. Tony get ready to blow this rock up. And the rest of us will get the people on the boats. Once we are done you guys will get on the boats and I will come back here, teleport Wanda to the Helicarrier and then Tony and I will blow this rock to hell. Do you understand?" I say and they nod their head. Tony flies off. Steve, Nat, Thor and Clint run off to sweep for survivors. Leaving me with my brother and sister.

"I'm not going to let you kill yourself." Pietro says looking at me.

"I can handle this." I reassure him. "You don't need to always protect me."

"You are our baby sister, we are family, family sticks together no matter what. I will never stop protecting you." He says and pulls both Wanda and me into a hug. Then he runs off.

I sigh, "Wanda if something does go wrong. If I don't make it. I want you to stay with them, the Avengers I mean. They are good people. You can help a lot of people with them. I need you to make sure that none of them blame themselves. And I want you to have this." I say taking off our mother's ring and giving it to her. A single tear rolls down her face and I hug then teleport away.

I teleport by Clint and Nat as they are reaching the lifeboats. "We don't have a lot of time." Clint says.

"So get your ass on a boat." Nat say as she walks over to the Hulk. "Hey, big guy. Sun's getting real low." She says to calm him down.

Barton gets onto one of the lifeboats, but notices a woman calling out in Russian. He looks to me for translation.

I walk over to her, "Hey, hey, what is wrong?" I ask her in Russian.

"Costel? My son. We were in the market. Costel?!" She tells me.

"Her son they were in the market." I tell Clint and then he runs off to find the boy.

"Zari, I'm gonna need you back in the church soon." Tony says.

"Is this the last of them?" I ask referring to the people getting onto the lifeboats.

"Yeah. Everyone else is on the carrier." Steve responds

I look to Clint as he fines the boy and Natasha is trying to calm Hulk down to get him back to being Banner. Then Ultron flies in with a jet and starts shooting at them. Hulk protects Nat. Clint has the boy in his arms and when he sees the on coming bullets he turns around to use his body as a shield to protect the kid.

Pietro, Steve, and I look in horror as the bullets get closer and closer to Clint.
