Rushing down the stairs, the youngest Kenner girl immediately spotted the two strangers in her house. There was a man dressed in uniform with a thick mustache, and a young, pale girl who looked to be around Hayley's age.

"Hayley, this is Charlie Swan and his daughter Bella," Ellen said, acquainting them. "Bella just moved here too, so you won't be the only new girl at school tomorrow."

"That's awesome," Hayley stated with fake enthusiasm as she looked at the floor.

"That's what I thought," Ellen said with a wide smile. "It's always good to have a friend."

Charlie smiled at the older woman. "Exactly," he said, agreeing with her.

The two adults began a conversation, which Hayley completely tuned out. She had temporarily forgotten about having to start a new school with kids she'd never met. Not to mention that it was in the middle of the school year, so she also didn't know how behind she was going to be. The whole idea of starting a new school and meeting new people just stressed her out.

"Hey," Bella said, snapping Hayley out of her thoughts. "I was wondering if you wanted a ride to school tomorrow? I really don't want to show up by myself and look like a weirdo."

Hayley chuckled and nodded her head. "Yeah, I'd really like that," she said, smiling at the Swan girl.

Bella nodded her head with small smile. "Cool," she breathed out awkwardly. "I'll, uh, pick you up at 7?"

Hayley groaned. "Why is school so early?" She complained.

Bella laughed softly at the girl. "It's obviously to make teenagers hate their lives more than they already do," she explained sarcastically.

Hayley grinned at the girl. "I think we're going to be great friends," she said confidently and Bella smiled.

Charlie sighed loudly as he placed a hand on Bella's shoulder. "Well, Bella, we've got to go get dinner before I leave for work," he told her.

"Okay," Bella replied as she gave her dad a small smile before turning back to Hayley. "I'll see you at 7?"

"Not a second earlier," Hayley retorted with a smile.

Ellen opened the door for the two Swan's as they both left. "Thank you for stopping by," she told them with a smile.

"Of course," Charlie replied with a smile. "Welcome to the neighborhood!"

Ellen chuckled at the man before closing the door and turning back to her daughter. "They seem like really good people," she stated.

Hayley nodded her head as she rocked on her heels. "Yeah, Bella's pretty cool," she agreed.

"I'm glad you've already made a friend," Ellen said with a smile. "You can go back to unpacking, I'll call you down when dinners done."

Hayley gave her mom a confused look. "What's for dinner?" She asked.

Ellen paused, remembering they had no food because she didn't go to the store yet. "Uh, pizza?" She asked.

Hayley laughed at her mom. "Remember to get bread sticks," she told her before disappearing up the stairs.

The youngest Kenner girl walked back into her semi-decorated bedroom and went back to unpacking. She eventually finished taping up all of her pictures, which ended up covering about 3/4's of her wall. A prideful smile found it's way on to her face as she stared up at her work.

She took a small break from unpacking to eat pizza with her mom and have an awkward conversation about school. To Hayley, things seemed different between the two ever since Mark died. Ellen was there physically, but definitely not mentally or emotionally. Hayley knew her mom just need time to deal with her grief, so the younger Kenner tried her best to stay strong for the both of them.
